A fast cruising yacht the other hand…
Bad idea. Been there done that. Well not fast, it was a gaff rigged ketch. 🙂
But from that I learned that there are only 2 sorts of sailing boats worth having.
One, big enough to have a permanent crew aboard to keep and maintain it, and then there’s no privacy for the owner until you reach about 100 feet.
Two, small enough to drag out of the water and live on the seafront.
I settled on the latter (that was in Oz).
My brother lives on his 45′ yacht in Cairns harbour, but he’s in the fortunate position of being a single man now. However he only moves it when a cyclone is coming and does his sailing delivering other people’s yachts. I think he’s got the right idea. 🙂
When we came here I tried to convince my wife we should live on a Dutch barge. I nearly got to become a single man…
