I reckon that there is a good chance that if he struck one of the them, the lot of them would have jumped him.

do you think that is a possibility?

But you think if he shot one of them then the rest would walk away quietly?? 🙄

i reckon ton has something here–his logic dictates that infants should be armed ,in preparation for the short life that beckons, them with the most money will have the biggest weapons …..simples…. 😥

the sooner we arm the police and bring capital punishment back, the sooner we will live in a nicer country. imho that is.

I think you need to go out for a bike ride to clear your head and only return when you’ve given time to truly consider your statements.

all jokes aside, when people think that peace is achieved by bigger and more deadly weapons then something is wrong with basic socialisation –oh ,i suppose thats what govt preach, they call it defense..

Britain is a shit hole, it is becoming a chav infested pit, with the majority having no respect for anyone nevermind the police.

It is the same as it always has been, the false utopia you dream of never existed, from chavy yorkshiremen going abroad causing trouble, grabbing womens arses in bars, mods and rockers fighting in seaside resorts in the 60’s, the rise of the criminal gangs in ww11 that became the later crime families, all major uk cities have had gang problems since industrialisation, and I dare say life wasn’t so free of violence before that.

We are probably living in one of the safest most crime free periods of history, but media fuelled scaremongering and false dreams of a past only found in romance novels has created a greater fear than ever and a gradual erosion of the freedoms won in the post war years.

the bobby was doing his job. there was a great chance of him getting a good hiding, or worse for doing his job.
this is wrong, but it is a fact in Britain today that this happens.
it did not happen in the past, there was a very good reason for this.
most older people will seem to remember capital punishment being a pretty good deterrent againt breaking the law.

This. The vast majority of posters on here have never even seen a proper scumbag or had any dealings with one.

and there were no scumbags in the past because they were all scared of the gallows??

How did he end up in that situation solo in the first place, where’s the other dude? Or do they get sent out solo now?

At no time in British history would a sentence of capital punishment have been imposed for entering a music festival without a ticket.

Utter, utter bollocks I’m afraid. We live in one of the safest countries in the world. There’s many countries around the world where the rule of law only applies if you have money to pay the police. People saying stuff like this need to take a serious reality check and remember how lucky we all are.

And I’ve worked in plenty of rough areas with plenty of ‘scumbags’ and young offenders etc.

Northwind, most forces have had a singlecrewing policy for years now. It’s much cheaper.

which one ton? The list of police deaths doesn’t really back that up, the violent riots of the past doesn’t, history doesn’t.

The chance of you being involved in violent crime is low, there are huge numbers of places round the world where you would be less safe.

Perhaps you are choosing what you want to remember, then suggesting arming the police as a way to stop it and executing people? Would that make you safer or just make you think you were.

if you follow the law you have nothing to worry about….if you don’t, you should face the consequences.I think we should just deport you and your mates and the place might be more palatable! 😆

Live in Tasmania, before then Lakes, Outskirts of Rochdale, Glasgow, Liverpool Suburbs, all over the east mids, Coventry. It’s not perfect but there has been violent crime and disorder for a long time. Riots, gangs and the rest it’s not new.

Number of police killed in america 2014 – 623
Number of police killed in the uk 2014 – erm no easily googleable stats. I suspect the answer is 0.

Number of people killed by the police in the america 2014 – 1,029 (with a few weeks to go)
Number of people killed by the polic in the uk 2014 – 1.

Aye lets militarise society, it works so well elsewhere.

Yeah, Graham. You chart-****. We’re going to decide this based on one angry old man’s hunches and possibly a poll in the Daily Express.

Nope. But your bird brain ideas are fairly prevalent on here.

The fear of crime’s totally unconnected to the actual rate of crime. Why is it we’re so down on some forms of terrorism but so open to the sort that happens in the media?

    Remember, DON’T GO OUTSIDE.

yeah I moved, it had nothing to do with your paranoid fear of crime and rose tinted specs. I remember the good old days of IRA bomb threats and the actual real bombs that went off. The pics above of riots happened, the police in the wikipedia link all died.

A “safer past” which you claimed was due to capital punishment, which was abolished in 1965.

graham, I remember a safer past,

What you remeber is less reporting. Some of the stories I’ve heard coming out of the 60s and 70s would make your eyes water.

Hell even growing up in the 80s and 90s I have a very real sense that the uk(or atleast glasgow) is a much safer place these days than it was.

    ton

no a safer past because people were afraid of breaking the law and the fallout from it. because police were respected.

ask you parents or grand parents, they may have the same rose tinted glasses as myself.

    seosamh77

Where do you think I get stories from the 60s and 70s from?

Fact is as I showed with my american stats is that arming the police is lunacy. you’ll just arm the criminals (much much further) and things will get much worse..
