I like timmy taylors landlord and fullers ESB.What other similar beers would you recommend ( not keen on the strong heavy style beers). If available bottled even better.

I was pleasantly surprised with Sainsbury’s own ‘Kentish Ale’. Hoppier and lighter than a Spitfire, and cheaper, if only by a few pence.
The Kentish Ale is brewed for Sainsbury’s by Shepherd and Neame.

I’m sure this is not the super secret revelation that you were after but its the best one I have tried in the last few weeks. Still tastes good after 9 of them (messy weekend at an outdoor music event in the lovely Alton last weekend).

I generally try a couple of the Morrisons discounted ones when they’re on, but I keep going back to Brewdog Punk IPA.

Fraoch and Arran Blonde are nice bottles though.

I’ll give another nod for that Caesar Augustus as well. Lovely stuff. Not usually a fan of Scottish beer, for some reason, but Williams stuff is ace.

Edric 64 – semantics as to whether it’s a pale beer, lager or both. There are lagers and ales on this thread. Definitely a quality drink but differences in taste are never going to be objectively resolved.

More of a cider man myself.

Have you a suggestion for the OP?

On Mendip, like you I tend to do local ciders or ales as they are really good.

I never sup that pish we dare to call lager in the UK. British served lager is to continental beer, what British keg bitter is to Real Ale: horrible tasting filth in a glass.

Lager beers, including Weissbeers, from Bavaria are gorgeous. I have Gutmann Weissbeer in my paw just now in-fact. Veltins is a reasonably good continental helles-style lager. Try it!

Summer Lightning, Fursty Ferret, 49er. Three of my favourites (although I have many others!)
