No reason why you shouldn’t be riding your bike on the road though – where as you should only be in a cycle lane if you’re cycling.

Are you sure about that? If that’s the case, there’s a part of my running route which has in effect became a pedestrian enclave then.

Running is pretty much the most basic form of exercise you can possibly do, pretty much one step up from going out for a walk. Maybe we should just make all pedestrians wear high-vis clothing as soon as they leave their house after dark? Hell, if they leave their house any time of the day.

**** it, anybody who does anything outside that isn’t driving a car should wear high-vis clothing to avoid getting run down eh?.

Pedestrians crossing on a pedestrian crossing, whatever next?! I suggest a strongly worded letter to the Daily Mail.

Pedestrians have priority if they have already started to cross at a junction

Not when they dart out in front of you with absolutely no reflective clothing on they bloody well don’t !

Erm, they do, I’m afraid. Are the ones near you equipped with teleporters?

    In related news,

A bloke was milling around in the middle of the road near me the other night, wearing a black top, black hat and dark trousers. It’d probably have been a close call as I drove round the corner, had he not had the foresight to tuck a 6′ kitchen worktop under his arm.

what the deal with running back to traffic or facing traffic, i always think its a bit wierd running towards traffic, because if they stop for you because a car is coming on the other side of the road you end up running right into thier car!

Same as when walking at night, it’s so you can take some responsibility for your own safety by seeing what’s coming. I know the drivers should take care to avoid me but i’d rather be alive than right if it comes to an either/or moment.

To be fair, cars tend to have lights for visibility

Yep, think that’s rule number two (3 being “be seen”)
