I have an aging but good(ish) hifi & would like to add a bluetooth connector.

What do the massive reccomend & is there a noticable difference in sound quality.

the device will need Analogue out

A digital/optic o/p would be a bonus but not necessary as I have no current plans to upgrade the amp.

Looking at playing rock music if that makes a difference.

I keep looking at getting one of these….

Don’t have one so can’t really vouch for it, but I think it will do Bluetooth or WiFi although you need to use WiFi to set it up initially.
For £20 it seems worth a punt, although I’ve also been debating the Pure Jongo WiFi speakers around the house too, so perhaps it would make more sense in that circumstance

I’ve got the jongo. Works well for me. Sound quality good, just works. I use it in Bluetooth mode, nice to know if I added more the others would sync up. Haven’t used the wifi mode, you have to use the pure app to send music to it.

the jongo looks good, especially at £19.95 for the black one off amazon.

Can’t see what else you get for £39.95 apart from two tone colours

If you only need analogue, I’ve got one of these, works a treat, also USB allows charging of my phone if I need.

Don’t Arcam do a bluetooth deely that does this? I looked at it before I before my Airport Express.

I think it’s the Mini Blink DAC.

I got a Logitech one from Currys a few years back for £25. Works fine, easy to set up etc.

Plugged into some Harmon Kardon Soundsticks in the kitchen, the quality is more than good. Not sure I’d treat it aas hiFi though.

I’m quite into music and good stereos and bluetooth audio isn’t the best quality.

If you can get a device that supports APTX over bluetooth then it is pretty good but if your source is an Apple device you won’t have this.

A lot of Android phone and tablets do and a reciever can be had for £25 from Amazon – I bought one a few days ago and it works well in the bedroom on an old Arcam amp and Sony android phone via APTX.

Standard BT audio isn’t as good.

For good quality music I’d consider a wi-fi device. The Pure Jongo is good but can’t handle lossless or any other hi quality file.

Best bet is to use an apple airport express and stream through that if you have Fruit devices.

I will say that the when stretching to audiophile type quality, the cheap jongo actually sounds darned good with the digital out feeding my tag mclaren DAC with my iPhone as BT source. I wouldn’t expect the best, but I’d rate it very highly for everything but critical listening.

I got a Phillips one from Amazon and it works well with the hifi and sounds good (considering it is bluetooth) – it was around £30.

I had a Logitech bluetooth adaptor and the range just didn’t work for me. I ended up with my laptop/phone so close to the Hi Fi I could have just used a cable!

I ended up with this, it links to Spotify and works a treat over Wifi..

Got a logitech one and it works well when with the room, I think with open doors it struggled at around 10m.

Also have one generic one from 7dayshop with NFC (around 7 pounds?) and that seems equally good.

Beanum, that Gramofon looks ideal for what I need. Where did you get it from as it’s no longer available from Amazon and I can only find reviews not retailers when I search.

That gramofon sounds perfect if you’re using spotify, which I am. Would have looked if I didn’t already have the jongo.

Just looked at that, you can buy it direct. €60 (so about £45).

Thanks Cougar, I couldn’t access that site at work, ordering one tonight at home and hopefully it will sound better than the disappointing bluetooth kit I’ve used thus far.

Soon as I can solve my domestic Wifi problems and get Chromecast up and running, I’ll let you know.
