If you could have just one days guiding, where would it be? We’re doing a week of self guide riding in a nearby valley and have a day to spare.

You’ll get more riding in in Verbier which I would say is more technical in nature. Zermatt is a special place however. The transport into Zermatt shouldn’t be underestimated as that will take quite a bit of your day. Don’t forget Chamonix is 45 mins from Verbier in the summer. Depends what you are looking for and what else you are riding that week.

Most of this is shot is Verbier, the high mountain glacier stuff is Zermatt.

I’ve only ridden Verbier Mark but it blew my mind. That was 5 years ago now and I want to get back at the earliest opportunity but two kids in the meantime have put that idea on hold for a bit! It was unreal – I may be being naive but I can’t imagine riding getting much better…

Mental note made – still need to figure out how to disguise a riding trip as a family holiday to Verbier…

Verbier but only if you’re riding with Bike Verbier.

The best five days I’ve ever had on a mountain bike in 30 years of riding were the Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday I spent with them.

We’re 2 hours away from both and will be riding the lesser known stuff around Grimentz and St Luc, including The Brazilian from Col Du Cou and some nadgery local stuff. Verbier sounds like the one.

Verbier with Bike Verbier, counting the days before we get there again. This will be my tenth year out of eleven. Had to miss a year due to Katies operation. Each year gets better and better. I’m amazed how they keep finding the new stuff.

    This is our family holiday

You could try Bike Verbier if no-one else has mentioned it…..

This time next week we’ll be firing the jet burners under the Sterotype STW Skoda & heading down there ourselves for trip number 8 with them 😀

Verbier but only if you’re riding with Bike Verbier.

We had a day’s guiding from the other firm in Verbier. I thought it was awesome, but I must have been wrong about that.

What’s the other firm chakaping? Bike Verbiers’ communication dept. is a little delayed.

Theres some folk who did mtb guiding who are friends of Phil and Lucy, cant remember their names though.

Well this thread has made my day!

Nah, it’s all just conjecture. The only thing more terrible than Lucy’s cooking are Phil’s jokes, the trails are all canal tow paths and their lift van is forever breaking down so you have to get out and poush.

I’d be happy to take your place for you though….

    What’s the other firm chakaping?

    MTB Verbier.

If you don’t have any luck with guides drop me a line, can probably give you enough pointers for a day.

@Handle if you want a really nice dinner the Bella Tola in St Luc is excellent. I would suspect Bike Verbier is well and truly sold out and not sure they do the odd days guiding. There is enough stuff you can find yourself with a little effort/research.

Thanks jamba. We’d already heard but didn’t bother last year so may give it a go this time. BV do days guiding but just trying to pin down a date and cost with them. TBH, I think we’ll do self-guided.

BV would be worth it I suspect especially if you get a van uplift somewhere that’s hard to get to. Some online research inc using the excellent SschweizMobil site and smartphone app.

I’ve ridden Verbier self guided twice (ie its very do-able) and would love to go to BV and don’t doubt that will be even better. We are planning a Chamonix/Verbier trip at the end of the summer.
