Right, after what feels like MONTHS of searching and dithering, this appears to be the next tent for us, probably with the Vango Premium Extension to stick on the side. Right size, style, layout, she even likes the colours avilable!

Anyone like to offer any experiences to back up our choice or make us think again?

And anyone any experience of outdoorgear4u.com, who appear to be the cheapest we have found so far?

    Thanks

Can't help you am afraid, but we're thinking about a Tigris 400 for my wife, me and our two small children. We're more used to mountain tents (i.e. a Quasar)but now our daughter is born it will be more of a squeeze. So we're breaking out into the world of family tents (it's a big step for us weekend warrioirs!)

So any views on the Tigris range in general? as well as the 400 and the 800?

Mugsys – we have a little boy and a dog – well all fit into our Vango Equinox 450 very well – EXTREMELY weather resistant and pretty light – sort of a bridge between hardcore and family tenting. The "footprint" is essential.

The design is excellent and it's very well made.

We've just got back from a week's camping in our Tigris 600. It's excellent. With all the doors open it gave a nice cool place to sit without that stuffy tent feeling. We got the footprint and carpet too. Carpet really makes it in m opinion, not essential of course but gives the living space a real lift. Footprint handy.

If you're feeling flush, I also recommend thermarest dreamtime luxury sleeping mats, more comfortable to sleep on than many a bed but not cheap.

Swadey – Just on the off chance, I have a Vango Icarus 500, with canopy, carpet and footprint for sale. I bought it brand new last month but the missus hated camping, if its of any intrest to you mail me, its literally as new, still has the original price tags on it.

pretty sure we have an older tigris and it's brilliant, Vango tents are always great value if you're not after the lightest most compact packing tent.

I have that tent, I bought it a few months a go. That's certaibnly the cheapest I've seen it. There's a shop in Billiricay which does it for £245 which up until now I thought was the cheapest.

it's a cracking tent, very good quality with plenty of room. We slept 5 in ours with me and t'other half in one pod and the 3 kids in the open pod at the other end of the tent. we used the spare pod for food etc. we used ours back at the end of May when it was 'effing windy. it stood up to the wind very very easily where other cheaper tents gave up the ghost. You won't be dissapointed.
