Nice one, coolhandluke! Pull ‘T uther un has possibilities (since the team will be taking on Dads in Lancs).

So, I’m thinking either ‘Pull ‘T uther un’ or ‘The Tuggernaut’. 😉

    Any other suggestions?

There’s a chance BTW that the name will be emblazoned across branded T-shirts, printed especially for the event. So, a chance for fame here.

Taking this too seriously? Possibly. 😉

Cheers for the suggestions, guys. Some crackers here!

Wear boots ,tug o war boots are like work boots get a good anchor man who wraps the rope round him properly keep your weight low on the rope and time your effort so when you do pull hard all pull together (ooer missus!)

    advice about technique

set up a kind of rocking rhythm that everyone pulls then holds, pulls then holds rather than just pulling all out all the time.

Captain Tugwash for the lead puller, maybe?

Thanks for the technique advice guys – there’s just one pracice session to get this right and adults winning at kids’ events, after all, is all that matters. 😉

technique – all let go at the same time – you lose but it is funny to watch – make sure you have made them really angry first 😉

scaredypants, it’s Dads’ teams, but at a primary school event.

The idea is that the Dads get a chance to impress their kids… but get it wrong and it’s a lifetime of humiliation.

I like my dad’s heavier than yours!

All the pros use adapted ski boot that they have adapted with a flat wooden bottom, they dig there heels in and take small steps back using the rocking rythme.

Don’t let go of the rope like Junkyard suggests, that ends up badly for the recipients (backs landing on boots pointing up and knees bending the wrong way) not cool.

Also “yankers” might work as a name

I so wish I could use ‘yankers’! But, primary school event…

All technique advice has been taken on board… and will be implemented at tomorrow’s last-minute practice sesh. 😉
