    1st proper test today.
Hi gang.whent to cyb today.got there at 3pm so timed it just right so that it went dark right at the top of the adams family decents(dragons back).arrived at the top turned it on and pointed downwards.
    unbelivable.absolute hoot.
troutie.words fail me,they are spot on.even flat out it wasn,t scary as there was so much light.
I think the best bit was when half way down i bumped into three blokes who all had bar and helmet lights. As i came behind the first one trouties marvel reduced his lights to three orange balls on the ground. he, he.
wouldn,t mind a baby trout now for my lid and i,ll never need the sun again..

It would be interesting to compare beam patterns, i.e the optics that have been used. I don`t think they are all the same. Mine has a definate centre beam, quite wide though and certainly puts the light where you are looking.I havent any beam shots yet as i was converting my current light onto the helmet, but i did take a shot of the "glow"

    😛

Here is a shot of the Tiger on the lid. also a crackin light BTW.

825 lumens and the best battery stat ever ❗

I can now use both lights with the same batteries and one charger, these batteries charge in 1 1/2 hours from flat.

    A total of nearly 3000 lumens 8)

    Hey up stoney
How you gonna see the status lights up there .
but I guess no one will want to be in front of you so they will be able to tell you how it is doing .

I have just spent the morning looking through wow totaly amazing from concept to product with consultation from the masses in a short time and by the looks of it a quality product to boot. If I had the cash I would order one now.

I rode with my Troutlight for the first time with company last night (and at speed).
    Amazing.
I actually had my DX on the bars too & ran them both at low power settings.
Incredible illumination & if used on low setting it means the eyes get used to the dark a little more which I find helps in the situations where it's not just about lumens due to shadows etc…
The wide spread of light from underneath the lamp unit helped too when a guy in front of me dropped over the bars into a 1 meter deep ditch by accident – at least he could see how to climb back out 🙂

Will move the DX up onto the lid & then I think it'll be about perfect set-up.

(Lumicycle elite bag as recommended here works perfectly too.)

    dalepoint.
right go on then.stick her on and i,ll convince her no problem.
she needs to understand that you need, have to have one.
her denying you one is pure cruelty.
everyone will laugh at you if you use a second rate light and this amounts to bullying and she wouldn,t want that now would she. 😉

Has anyone timed the battery stat yet. I have been trying mine while out with the dog and just leaving it on in the house. I can`t give an accurate time yet as the battery had 3 hours+ use on Tuesday, but over the last 2 nights of messing about it must have been the same again. The stat led did the flashing phase and eventually went permanent red. Has anyone worked out roughly how long is left at that point ❓
    I run 2.5ah batteries BTW.

    Cheers…..

    stoney.is that on low.
mine went strait to red(no flashing)after about 1 hour 45 on full.
    same battery.

Mine went to constant red the other night, I turned my light to low and got home with it still running 50 minutes later 😀

    stoney

    Thanks for that!

Well…. 50 mins sounds fine to me.. Ive been having mine on a mixture of lo n hi. the stat flashing phase was quite short, probably only a few bursts of flash, at which point it was on hi.

Another thing i noticed is that it does`nt get hot at all, i mean you can still hold it no problem, even on hi….

    Nice work Chris. 🙂

the stat led works on what voltage the driver sees coming in
so a 14.8 pack will be 16.8 fresh off the charger

the stat led should come on when the battery hits 14.3 volts and is supposed to be a med indicator

and start flashing at 13 volts

this will also depend on temperature the colder the battery the less power it will want to deliver .

there is also a sag in a battery where when you hit the hi button it drops below the threshold and the light comes on but recovers when you go to lo

so it cant be a hard and fast rule on actual power left just an indicator but certainly when it is flashing it is time to switch to low and be heading home

This is what happens when you give an engineer free reign to do what ever with a set of leds and optic The Bugger comes up with some thing looking damn good . 😆

Its a bit powerfull for the mtb and needs a big battery but attracting a bit of interest from the motor bike customisers and Paul has done a smashing job .

Well Snaps I have seen some of your lights on the forums but the triple in the middle looks familiar Is this some sort of memmory test . 😉

No its one I bought off of you years ago, triple cree ??? still kicks out a good 500-600 lumens I recon – a mate has been using it but he gave it back the other day after I built him a pair of MR11 helmet & bar R2s
I was bored yesterday @ work, had the keys to the pitch black warehouse so decided to do some testing – Cree R2s vs the new NGX HID offerings from WA Solarc (they're getting near 1100 lumens out of the NGX for under 1050mA draw from 14.4v Li ions!)
If I'm honest the NGX HID 6 degree has better penetration than any LED I've tried (still waiting for a genuine triple narrow optic for XPGs) wall is 32m away

I love LED lights but I'm replacing my Cree R2 helmet light with an NGX HID for this winter as it just shines so much further (I'm hoping the XPG with a good optic will better this when available)
PS how much for a baby trout kit? (with bflex for 14.4v Li ion)

    Trout LL vs Wilma 7…..

Ok, dont get too excited as it was`nt an accurate test. we were just leaving the pub @ about 6pm and we had a compare but it was against a white dashed gable end, so not very good.
However, we will recommence tomorrow night!
