Looking for a new light for the GF – that airbike p7 shot doesn't look too bad for the money. Any body know any reason not to buy one of those?

I take it all the current batch of lights are spoken for?

Any idea when the next available delivery will be?

Hi Chris, got out last night and was blown away with the light.

Got some pics against a DX, clearly no comparison.

Justme got out last night with the baby, so will get his feedback on the Friday night bimble tonight.

I'll mail you about buying the baby trout off you if thats OK, could you let me know what it would be with a new battery, also I'll sent back your case as well.

Why does everyone (apart from me) have the shutter open for 6 seconds?

The above picture on high it's what the Trout light is like, It's bright and a fantastic light but that shot isn't what it's like out on the trail.

Even I would say the 6 second shutter shot is too bright to ride with.

    Hey up John

the settings for the beamshots seem to be a throw back to a massive light review a guy did on the MTBR forums that was when lights were aroung 400 lumens .
and on there it was looked at as a standard setting that gave lifelike results .

    f4 – 6 seconds – white ballance daylight .

I am no photographer and know nowt about it

I have said in the past on there that with the newer higher power leds and lights that a new setting should be sorted as pics tend to lie at 6 seconds now .

    Hi Monty .
some how I did not expect the Baby to come home 😉

Cool shot, makes me wonder – could you give it a 'Knight Rider' mode? 💡 🙂

Cheers for the new how-to pics, Chris. This Sunday's going to be pants, so there will be much soldering going on.

Trout/ Smudge, any joy with the batteries yet?

Beam shots are very difficult to take and reproduce accuracy.

The massive mtbr test last year was very well carried out by Francois, the forum founder. He used the same settings for every light he tested. This was for control, and seemed to give a fair representation of what you would you see on the trail.

The pics which stoner has posted are plainly over exposed. The centre part is completely white and burnt out.

I had a go at taking some beam shots last year comparing the Hope Vision 4, the Nightlightning iBlaast! NZ light and the L&M HID Arc. I had to tailor them on my PC to get them to look what I thought to be accurate.

Here is one of the iBlaast! which I still think is a little overexposed

Would I be correct in thinking you have sent our kits out with 4 spots and 2 two medium spread lenses?

Could you confirm this for me please as I might have a play with different configuration's

I think he has though it's more like 4 medium and 2 wide as he uses xpe optics which combined with the xpg makes them a bit floodier than the optics suggest.

Re – lupine betty vs troutlite no comparison the betty would get completely hammered, i have a friend with one and it's not a lot better than a single p7 even yours on low might top it, I've a friend with one soon as she asks for a ride i'll bring me camera along.

Can't wait for the s2 xpg, i might prefer the warmer tint it's mean to have not to mention the extra 350 lumens. 😀

I was under the imperssion that the optics were 2wide,2medium,2spots? as in the last beam shots on page 7.

Correct me if im wrong ❗

There are a few differing slightly combinations out there

some 2 narrow lens front 2 narrow flat front and 2 med

but the majority are 4 narrow lens front and 2 medium

I canceled the 2 wide and now have a box full of the devils
as they were not making the beam any better and just wasting light imho .

they all give a nice riding light as folks have said .

as Huxley says the xpg leds give a wider beam than the xpe leds .

my photos were intended to be comparative rather representative.

I dont believe a photo can ever be truly representative of the lights performance on the trail. Hence the reason for comparative images at a consistent exposure setting so people can draw their own conclusions based on what they are familiar with.

My photos do my Ayups an injustice though since although they are far lower power they are one of the best managed in terms of light out there and helmet mounted a single intermediate head is perfectly useable on its own.

Sent you an email regarding bottom case screws.

Oops meant to say 4 narrow 2 medium optics, like trout says they come out a bit wider than the lenses suggest.

I like to think my pictures are fairly accurate, as said it's hard to get an accurate representation.

Has anyone changed their light from duo mode to 5 light level mode and if so what is the method used?

Happysv.i was thinking that the other day.
Troutie. do we get any instructions to play around with the driver(compulsive tinkerer).ta bud.

    JohnClimber

Happysv will be tinkering with ine so don't get it wrong.

I'd like the low setting to be a tad brighter please

Id like a superlow setting for the roads because even on low its a lt of light for drivers to face…

From reading the maxflex manual it would appear you can adjust the low level ,if this is correct can you confirm
which of the five setting it is on now (menu 8.3) default is level 2.
you can email me with the info if you don't want everyone tinkering which is understandable. 😆

The Maxflex driver has some aspects of the menu locked to deter compulsive tinkerers from messing it up and then sending it back
    as faulty .

Full instructions for the maxflex are on the taskled site .

But you need a pin from me to tinker with the important settings .
and the responsibility for any cockups is then yours .

I dont know if the duo / multi mode is included in the locked menus

The main ones I wanted locked were the drive current / thermal sensing / and battery warning .

must have theropy for compulsive tinkering.

Are you at home tomorrow morning as I'm heading over to Otley and you could adjust them for me if possible?

Arrived at the conclusion today that it would have been better if I'd gone for a fully built up light. The only bit I could find for my venerable Antex iron was a big fat one, I had no solder, and I needed some wire and some silicon to seal the switches. By the time I bought that lot, and I had to buy three bits, not just one, it cost me £27, just three quid short of Trout's build price. Oh well, live and learn, eh.

You must have good eyes Stoner! I was riding wet roads the other night and found the low setting too low so ran on full most of the way.

What's the current leadtime & cost on the baby??

    1000 lumens too low 😯 ❗

I dont think the low is 1000 lumens ❓

I stand corrected…I guess it all depends on the driver current when on low.

    JohnClimber

I'd like the low setting turned up to match that of my replaces Light & Motion ARC if at all possible.
If you read this before 8.30 in the morning (Monday) Chris and you are in tomorrow could you email me over your address please?

Oh Well XT you will need to buy another one and halv the cost of the tools . 😕

    Low is about 540 lumens

John it depends how long you are in the area as I am away till mid afternoon .

Multi mode is ok but a bit of a faff I find
but you then do have a true very low of 240 lumens driven @ 80 ma

    happysv

Rather than going to multimode can the low be took to the next stage and if so at what lumens/run time?
