Starts today in my part of the World – 130 miles – wet and very windy – going to be a tough day for these guys.

    Anybody going to watch?

I’m at a mates farm 5 miles from the finish at Drumlanrig and it’s pissing down and blowing a hoolie, has been all night. The race passes a few hundreds yards from the farm estate entrance so I may take a wander down later if it dries up.

Eurosport 2pm tour of Britain, 3pm Vuelta. Bit of overlapping but will be flipping between both and painting the shed floor. Multitasking or what.

Planning on a double take at Elstead and Farnham .
Hoping I can cover the 5 miles directly quicker than it takes the peleton to do the other 3 sides and 15 miles of a square.
Might cycle up from home ( 35 miles ) then watch at Elstead , 20 min sprint to Farnham , then back to Godalming and catch train to nearly home in time for tea and medals.unless its hosing it down.

Not sure of the reasons but ending the day in Guildford on a saturday afternoon has the potential for chaos . big county town , bad parking , road closures ,hundreds coming to watch the finish . no thanks .

I don’t think I can make the Caerphilly finish, sadly. Will be watching though.

Both rain and wind has slowed, but still wouldn’t fancy the A7 in it.

5 leaders at 5 mins over the peloton in Selkirk.

Given that there’s a few big teams there, I’m in two minds whether to go and watch it in the Lakes tomorrow. Where would be the best place to get parked and watch? Don’t mind doing a short bike ride.

Anyone know of any reliable internet sources for the feed. It’s not available here in Oz sadly, bar minuscule highlights

Would’ve thought you’d find it on steephill.tv if you can’t get it on ITV4 Player.

That, or paying a few quid for Eurosport Player.

The weather is a bit mixed today. There was blue sky over Drumlanrig a few minutes ago.
But, the Madison Genesis team bus, had left the road and, was stuck in a ditch at the side of the road 15 miles from Drumlanrig. Not the best road the A702, even on a good day.

Packed the mountainbikes in the car first thing this morning , parked in Peebles and got a puncture within 2 minutes. Pushed my bike round Peebles then had trouble buying a tube from Bspoke cycles as Shane Sutton and Dave Brailsford were having a coffee.
Watched the build up and start but it was a bit of a washout with the weather. Through bikes back on the rack without hardly turning a wheel as It was even to wet for a blast round GT. Still good to see the big teams up for the Tour but wouldn’t fancy the route in these conditions.

I was in the middle of LEJOG this time last year, caught it through Kendal (last year they just passed through on the way to Blackpool, this year it’s a stage finish). Weather conditions were very similar to now!

Hopefully going to watch tomorrow – will see what the weather is like and decide about taking a bike and riding up to Honister or just sheltering in a cafe in Kendal!

Watching it on EuroSport 2 now, looks grim!

They did Guildford as the finish last year, on a Sunday, so they’ll know exactly what it takes. And it was a fab day, police motorbikes hooning up the high street, silly races for the crowd by UK elite racers dressed up in mascot costumes. And my daughter saw herself on telly after, so thinks she’s famous. I’m sad I’m missing but will be in Exmoor instead!
