Warm gloves and skull cap have arrived…yay!

Still waiting on the spare brake pads – the front disk is screaming because I got dot5.1 on it. (Still it was silent last time I went out, so perhaps washing + braking have helped)

Bit worried that where I live will become impossible to drive…

    Still,should be fun!

if i dont reply on this thread again, its because i tried to drive into work in 3 inches of snow (now i know its safe…. i know how to drive, but god help the idiot that crashes into me because snow turns their brain off)

its BEAUTIFUL around Swinley now, a good 3-4 inches of snow in places and its nice and soft 🙂 shame the forecast suggests that will have all have melted by Sunday!

i’m safe 😀 some surf_matt style powerslides around roundabouts and its alll gravy!

    Good effort.

Balls to driving though. The arse end of my beamer will spend the whole journey trying to overtake me! Today I will be working from the comfort of my living room with a sneaky ride out with the dog on the cards for lunchtime. Happy days…

ahh you want a nice safe sensible old man skoda like me, no turbo, no traction control, just front wheel drive and all the torque the diesel can muster 😆

going to invent a reason why i need to leave early this afternoon so i can beat some of the worst traffic home before it gets dark *fingers crossed*

out at 6am defrosting the car and clearing all the snow off, even cleared mrsconsequences car for her, but it got covered again by the time i left at 6:40 😯

    i blame the tories!

Don’t think I can make it. My Elixir’s are screaming in the wet and the weather has meant I cant try new pads as they have not come. (Plus I cant get the front pads off because the bolt has rounded). Don’t think it’s fair to subject everyone to the brake scream!

take your brakes off and have a ball, i might showup depending on beer and other half and weather etcnot that i’m a weather nancy, the last ones i went on was mental cold like -7 and the other you needed a **** noahs ark

timothius no one cares about what your brakes sound like. I rode for 60km of a 100km ride with a friend whose breaks squeeled on every rotation of the wheel. Yeah I almost killed him, but we’re okay now.

Just come along. One of the guys on here is probably already getting a bit excited at helping out a fellow biker with his nuts! (& bolts)! 😀

Ah cheers! Will come then. I’ll try to pop into the LBS to get it sorted on Saturday, but otherwise it’s going to be LOUD!

I’ll bring some chocolate to prevent my assassination.

tim my good man…. my front brake squeels like a 12 year old meeting edward cullen on every rotation as i found out last night. i do know a cheeky quick fix that might help both out brakes… we can try it in the car park before riding (i’ll bring allen keys).

if it doesnt work then we’ll kick TSY in the shin as hard as possible so everytime i he puts pressure through a leg he’ll let out a wimper, that will distract from our brakes 😉

[flounce]Oh yeah, that’s right, sure… pick on the Yeti. Racists![/flounce]

Right then who’s travelling, how far, for this supersexualfun?
I just checked my route and I think it takes something like 2 days for me to get there…

forgot to mention, went for a ride around swinley last night

holy quicksand batman! riding in snow up hills is like riding up a sand-dune…. havent been that worn out by a bike ride since i first started.

it was like riding in narnia, so much untouched snow, LOADS of animal tracks and a few sets of footprints, but pretty much no tyre tracks. only saw 2 other cyclists the whole ride.

the weather forecast suggests that it should get up to 3-4degrees and some rain before sunday so we’re going to be looking at mud. i love mud. depending on what time the temperature drops on sunday it might harden up a bit and get all fast and flowy again, but in all honesty – as beautiful as last night was – i’d prefer to ride in mud and rain that battle through the snow to get up hills.

if the snow melts it’ll be easier to see the icey puddles and roots 😯

It was like riding in the back of my wardrobe?? 😐

I went for a ride near where I live yesterday. Same experience. I found cycling almost impossible as the snow was a foot thick. Walked about 90% of the trail pushing the bike which sucked a bit.

    Still, the scenery was good!

yeah walking hills i had managed to build my self up to always riding was a bit disheartening, but, its all good exercise 😀

there is now a ROLE CALL THREAD for the ride to keep things a little bit organised.

all messing around, organising lifts, photos of cats, discussing suede jackets should continue in this thread though!

now there’s a role-call thread this one can descend into madness….

YETI – if you’re reading this, i’d like to present to you my dream fullface helmet.

on that note, why hasnt (hoping to be proved wrong on this!) anyone made fullfacers that look like sharks and dinosaurs?!

My best mate at Uni descended into madness. Proper madness, the sort of madness that lead him to believe that he could control Karl Kennedy off of that there Neighbours (but only at the repeated tea time showing).

Madness is my MasterMind specialist subject, let’s roll…

    it bloody well should!

madness is my area of speciality also, but more in a “sit on my lap and tell me what the problem is” kinda way 😉

did you have me down as some kind of IT type? 😐

No no, I knew you were a nurse. I just didn’t know a mental one.

Interestingly I went out with a mental health nurse the other night, supposed to be seeing her again tomorrow. Here’s hoping that I’m not living a real life dating version of Shutter Island!

No! But she sounds nice! I want in to the mental health family. Gonna have to do it through a girl or just plain old getting sectioned…
