Finally some powder for my new board in the 3V this morning. It’s just lovely. Just gone for my steepest/deepest* ever – nice and deep, one minor wipeout but styled it out. Rest of it including run out and wee jump to piste went nicely. 😀

*Mind you, what’s deep for me is not necessarily deep for everyone. 😆

Resorts shut due to wind in the western Pyrenees. Looking up from the plain it’s spectacular but I wouldn’t like to be up there. The forecast for next week has lost a couple of degrees, just enough to turn some of the rain to snow. It’s looking good for the February holidays.

    good to hear DD.
R & I missed anything new at PDS. Conditions “variable”.

Here’s hoping that the next 5wks bring some substantial new snow and temps to match for those going out early march . Ahem.

Have just endured the chaos of Innsruck airport check in. Makes easyjet Bristol seem highly sophisticated (and I will never complain about it again 😆 )

I got a notification from GVA airport app saying arrive at least 3 hours in advance at GVA this weekend, and travel by public transport if possible. A good reason never to travel peak times. Never leave on Sunday evening, never head out ate friday or early saturday.

Bristol airport’s new security scanner set up is a royal pain in the arse. Loads of new scans set to twitchy nervous. Xray box highlighted my jumper breast pocket…just because there’s more material in that area. Stupid machine is stupid. And then they dont have enough people to do screening when the scanners go off. They’ve gone all TSA without making anything more efficient or safer.

Seconded on Bristol airport security. We flew to Barcelona over Christmas and my husband was pulled over because his trainers “showed traces of explosives” 😆

Couple that with the metal plate in his arm… oh and the fact that they’d never seen shoe trees before… it took us a while to get through.

It wouldn’t be so bad but I find a few of the security staff at Bristol pretty rude…

15cm on the pistes in Claviere this morning. Awesome on a board. Got carved up pretty fast but the stuff off the sides was still fun

If you get a few cm more then Get up early and get the main chair up from where the ski school meet. Turn left at the top then immediatly left again . Work your way down to the right through the trees
Was really good in there last year.
Ditto the other mainlift with a mid station. Jump off mid station , fwds , left then dive into the trees on the left straight away . Keep the chair in earshot and run down parrallel with it .
And go to Robertos pizza place toward the bottom of the village .

Last night today sadly. The snow today was on top of another 10cm yesterday too. Was snowing like hell this morning but the sun came out and was perfect

    At least do it properly!

with a white bow tie and a white shirt when it’s neither a day at the races nor a wedding?? … tut tut!

Clearly that gentlemen’s personal gentlemen had been somewhat remiss or had had a momentary lapse of good taste …

Not sure if I remember mittens being discussed…had an unfortunate moment where the thumb (thankfully just the material…not another Stoner story) got caught as I was hurriedly trying to style out a “do-up-the-bindings-on-the-move-oh-shite-it’s-getting-steeper-quick-quick-QUICK!!!!” Anyway, material ripped…bit beyond repair so sadly, they have to be replaced after many years of great service.

Budgie anything in 2 figures. Pref leather palm. Something gore-tex-ish.

Flippin hell…bargaintastic…they’d match my slacks too for style points. 😀 Gotta be worth a punt for that price. Sizes 8,9,10…can’t remember how they relate to S/M/L – think 9 or 10 is an L – do you know which one?

mine are 9 . quick measure across the palm is 12.5cm if that helps. they really are great gloves

Yeah, did a bit of digging and it seems 9 is L.

There are a few eBay merchants selling the same thing. With free postage, click&collect etc I’d have them in no time. They look excellent vfm.

    EDIT: cheers for the tip!

A decade or so ok, I lost my ski mits and took my old climbing Dachsteins skiing. They were awesome even if they raised several eyebrows at the time.
