    Oh wow!
Congratulations to you both Mr and Mrs. Flashy.

Hope she’s got a nice name – Chemmy prehaps 😉

P.S. forget the skis, it’s a small 3 wheeler first, then a balance bike then skis.

Graham, for that gif, you win an entire internet. 🙂
Wallop, no pics online for now, I’m afraid, but it certainly did happen!

In the rather odd period of waiting at home for them to be discharged from hospital, and stuff like Graham’s gif there are really raising the spirits! 🙂

Congrats Flashy!! Only a few years and she’ll be joining you on the slopes 😀 a little longer and she’ll be flying past you 😯

The Alps are looking superb on the webcams – I’m off to St. Anton for the season (as I’m sure many of you will know – only mentioned it a few times 🙄 ) but the resort has gone from green to white overnight so very excited!

On the spot pic from my mate in Whistler:

Good cover and plenty more coming by the look of those clouds.

k2 kungfujas setup, offensive 20/20 fd wear kit hanging up, new boots played with and its snowing in Morzine 😀 awesomeeeee shame I’m not home for another week – going to try and sneek to italy for a powder day before everything really kicks off

Don’t want to sound like a hater – but why do people go to Whistler in Winter? I thought Canadian / USA rules were that you can only stay between the lines and on the routes they say and anything else gets your pass ripped up? Also there isn’t too much variety is there compared with the Alps in Europe?

not at all – if you go *out of bounds* then there’s a chance your pass will be taken, but only if you go into an area where you;re not supposed to be. PLus, once you go out of bounds, you’re not covered by ski patrol. In bounds, however, it’s all fair game, unlike Europe where if you go off piste you;re on your own

PS snowing in the Tarentaise. 58 days and counting…

Ah so they patrol the off piste’s that they say are ok to ride? doesn’t that make them get massively tracked out and increase the risk of riders without the proper gear / awareness?

everything inbounds is avalanche controlled. becvasue there’s so much, it doesn’t get massively tracked out, but find a virgin powder field is quite rare

Interesting – sounds like it has positives and negatives then. thanks for the info

Yep there is a lot more in terms of patrolled/controlled but unbashed natural runs through trees etc

Plus of course it is so damn quiet compared to the Alps. On some pistes you literally won’t see anyone else till you get to the bottom!

Oh and of course you can go Cat Skiing, Heliskiing and Snowmobiling – all of which are heavily restricted in the Alps.

You know I hate you, don’t you?

    😉

Before the first lift (if in Chantemerle) take coffee at Sandrine’s little kiosk.

Make sure you take lunch at Le Bercail. If their Tartiflette is on, you know what to do! (Have the sugar cube with your coffee, but not in your coffee!)

Cafe Soleil at Serre Ratier does a very good, but mahooooosive, pizza.

In fact, of all the mountain eating spots, they’re all very, very good, apart form the one at the top of the Frejus bubble, which is very, very bad!

I did the ‘Fresh Tracks’ breakfast thing in Whistler a few years ago and was lucky enough that it had dumped overnight.

I managed three laps off the ‘Harmony Express’ chair before there were any other tracks but mine.

There’s good & bad points about Whistler/Blackcomb, but there is no denying that the amount of [Patrolled] terrain on offer is gargantuan*!

*I’ve always wanted to use that word in a sentence! 😆

There’s the Folgarida bash that’s sort of designed to fit in with half term.

3 bloody months to Tignes – why couldn’t we go at the beginning of January like we have the last couple of years when we’ve had perfect weather and snow??? Getting very jealous of those going soon!
