Out exploring around teeside. I’ve been meaning to get up here for ages, never managed it for some reason.
Today the forecast was bright sunshine while most of the rest of the country was under cloud so it was too good and opportunity to miss.
Trails were a mixed bag, some really good magical dry loamy carpets covered in orange larch pine needles. Long descents too, some great flowy stuff and also some properly gnar committing steeps.
Also some absolute death, very steep, slippy slidy no-grip-at-all rut tracks. Several times I had both wheels locked accelerating down the rut and had to tripod my way out of it gracelessly then have a little involuntary sit down.
Glad I was on’t eeb today as otherwise I’d never have been able to find half the good stuff and would have spent a lot of time being a bit annoyed that several of the descents weren’t anywhere near worth the climbing.
I don’t think I saw it at it’s best at all though. Id like to go back when it’s drier and grippier to try some of the harder lines again.
