Postcode is RG12 7QW. Look for brown tourist sign "Look Out Discovery Centre".
Parking is free, there is also an overflow car park which is towards the far right-hand side. It will be busy so get there early particularly as you can get hot food and drinks. Look for the banner 🙂
Please please please purchase a day permit online, cost £2 (saves queuing on the day). Print out receipt and bring it with you. This goes towards the cost of specialist machinery and supplies needed for the cutting and maintenance of trails:

Cafe will be open at 9.00 am especially for us and you will be able to purchase bacon rolls, fried egg rolls or bacon and egg rolls together with tea and coffee, all to take out if required.
Please note Visitor Centre and loos do not open until 10.00 am (but there are plenty of trees although don't frighten the children).
Riding groups will be led by locals so you can be sure of seeing all the best trails. There will be a jumpy one (led by solamanda and fingerbike), fast group led by Paul D, several intermediate groups (Dr Upgrade, Petetheplumber, Mark H plus others), several Slackers groups (myself, Spanner Man, mboy, Aleigh, Kate).
I anticipate that each group will have a maximum number of 10 riders.
Can all the other people who kindly volunteered be on standby as we may need to add extra groups depending on numbers on the day? Thanks.
We will start riding at 10.30 am and aim to regroup back at the Cafe at around 1.00 pm. If you want hot food I would strongly recommend that you order as soon as we get back – there are toasted sandwiches, jacket potatoes, beans on toast, filled sandwiches and rolls, lots of cakes etc etc.
More riding after lunch for those who have the energy. You are of course welcome to change groups.
What niche bike for Swinley? – what ever you are happy riding! Ideal for singlespeeding too.
What tyres for Swinley? – currently damp there but it's well-draining sandy soil, rooty in places, and some trails have been armoured. Don't really need a full-on mud tyre at the moment but, hey, what do I know.
Slackers groups – will be ideal for people wanting a gentle ride, returning from injury/illness etc. We will go at the pace of the slowest rider, nobody gets left behind. You will not be forced into riding anything that you do not want to do. It's about enjoying yourself, not punishing yourself.
Other points – we have some VIPs coming including the legendary jedi 8)
Also, as is usual at Swinley Forum Rides, we have some people that have been banned from the Forum for bad behaviour 🙄
Oooooh a discount voucher yep, my lovely lbs have again been persuaded to provide discount vouchers to celebrate this event. Make sure you see me!
Finally I am really looking forward to seeing everyone have a fantastic time at Swinley 😀
Meantime, any questions please ask or e-mail in profile if you prefer.
