Sweaty tyres

Why? Is it the heat? Are they just used to a more moderate climate?

Do people in Spain (other warmer places are available) change there sealant every day?

Quite a few of my tubeless tyres are “weeping”, “sweating”. Yes it’s the heat, possibly making the rubber softer or more porous. It might be the consistently higher temperatures with the tyres not being able to cool down at night.

I’ve seen sealant refresh/topup rates of every couple of months suggested for the US desert states like Arizona.

Some brands worse than others. Very sidewall dependant

WTB on 29er don’t. Maxxis on full suss and plus bike sweat a lot.

3” Nobby Nics front and rear. Rear sweats like a politician on an expenses charge. Front dryer than an alcoholic’s liquor cabinet.

How old are the tyres? Just had a thought – the ones of mine that are sweating are old, none of the ones fitted this year are doing it. As with @bigblackshed it seems to be the rear tyres that are prone to it, maybe they get more abuse and the sidewalls become more porous quicker.

I always find once tyres start getting on for a couple years old sealant starts seeping out a bit, maxxis seem to be worse ones for it especially the sidewalls.

Do you do anything about this (change tyre, replace sealant)?  My rear maxxis are sweating more than me at the minute but have just topped up sealant and carried on.

As other have said, down to the tyre.  When I used Continental Protection they had patches all over them and not just when really hot.  They also took weeks to seal and I had to pump them up all the time

Currently using some Specialized 2Bliss which went straight up and never needed to pump them up after the initial install and not a single sweat patch even in the 35c temperature of the garage.

That’s odd. My Spec 2bliss tyres are super-sweaty

I bought a used set of 26″ wheels, one of which came with a Maxxis High Roller ST fitted which is very sweaty around the sidewalls and the carcass between the tread blocks. I’m not sure how old it is but it’s fairly worn, and filled with Stans I think.

The Geax Barro Mountains I have on some other wheels have been tubeless for around a year, one sweated for a week or so but has been fine since. These are filled with Joes Eco sealant. Not sure if the sealant contributes to the sweating, they’re all stored indoors.

Had 2bliss that never stopped (though the grid versions are fine). Conti protections have never sweated much at at IME.

Same here, ground control ( 3 yrs old) ’ sweating pints’. 2.4 TK no sweat, 2.25 ardent a bit sweaty, new 2.4 ardent a bit sweatier

My rock razor is like me on the turbo, it sweats so much I just don’t understand how it’s still got any fluid left in it. At BMCC a couple of weeks back it literally created its own mud out of sealant ichor or whatever the hell it is. I don’t get it.
