No try. One of those nebulous decisions that both codes suffer from too much IMO.

England are the better side, with a game surely won by their forwards.

    But come on you boyos!

Was that the bit of pre-game briefing about dummy running doing its job then?

England have deserved it to be fair. Wales have made life very hard for themselves all second half

If that was crossing, then half the tries that are scored from 5-10 yards in the Premiership are also no try.

Spot on. England have deserved this, but Wales have really let themselves down. Badly.

Good win that. Not the Wales I was expecting to see though. They were flattered by that scoreline.

Brilliant. England played the right game 2nd half. Nice.

Sorry about my enthusiasm. Nice to be proved right though. Not bad for a second string team. 😉

    +1 DanW

English forwards made a great platform for excellent defending throughout. Welsh frustratingly unable to penetrate the three quarters and some suspect kicking from Biggar. Only Halfpenny really stood out.

    Well played England.

Proper corker that. Great start to the tournament. A couple of bottles of nice welsh cider now seem like a fitting accompaniment rather than a terrible omen.

Not really sure what wales thought they were trying to do second half.

The team that scored the most tries won. No problems with that. Well done England.

    Cracking start to the tournament.

    Oof..

First half I thought Wales were cruising to a comfortable win.
England moved up several gears in the 2nd, faster at the breakdown, faster through the hands, bigger tackles. That last Welsh attack Wales were throwing the kitchen sink at the English line to no avail.

Now, can someone remove this sofa from my arse…

Finally we saw a promising set of backs in an England team.

Great to see some mutual respect amongst fans and players alike. Great crowd in the Millennium, and a good friendly vibe on here too…..*raises a glass to Welsh and England fans one and all*

Oddly enough at half time, it didn’t feel that bad as were playing ok with strong set pieces. But still didn’t expect to dominate 2H like that.

    Still worried about sub strategy.

    Who were the better centres?

Wales suffered from being overly hyped up by the media! 🙂

If only Haskell hadn’t run into the post lol.

I think Burrell had a poor game – almost as if he were told not to hang on to the ball. If he had he’d have mad us look a lot better. Watson looks good and needed policing by Wales, May got better I think maybe we have a back line that can score as well as defend. At last.

I don’t want to point the finger at any one individual but it is frustrating to see North stutter for Wales. It is kind of all of nothing with him sometimes for Wales in attack and teams know he can’t kick and can be found wanting in defense. It is a shame that the honest trier wasn’t given more of a run out especially after North got knocked out twice. Jenkins scrumaging, Webbs kicks and the general slipping off tackles gave England all the momentum they needed. Everything else went downhill from there.

Fair play to the Bath boys and Youngs for England- playing what is in front of you will have the potential to run teams ragged. As soon as they had Wales turned everything looked possible and more often than not Brown made things happen. Not all teams will give them that freedom but the forwards did well to earn them that time.

Roll on the rest of the matches!
