Still hunting for a good fast commuting tyre with decent puncture protection that doesn’t weigh a ton. It’s down to these, Durano Plus/One Plus or Conti Contact Urban, but the latter three are a good bit heavier.
    Cheers!

They are my current choice and I’m really happy with them. They seem to be lasting well, roll nicely and way more grip than gatorskins.

I’ve had both the Schwalbe’s on my old road bike. Neither of them were anything special. I’d go for the Specialized again.

I have found them to be very decent winter road options.

I’ve just put some Conti Urbans on my commuter. I always liked the sport/speed ones (basically the slickest version, they changed name and tread pattern at least once) but haven’t ridden the Urbans yet due to the crappy weather. Will try to remember to update in a couple of days.

I used to use them when I was commuting and I did a LEJOG on them once as well. Nice durable but grippy/fast tyres.

I was using Specialized Roubaix Pro tyres on my Domane before switching to Specialized Pathfinder Pro’s. I really like the Roubaix had them on my last few road bikes.

Yeah, good news here too.  I use them year-round – used a 30/32 on the back in Roubaix last weekend and all good, so “most” UK potholes should be OK

Shame they dropped the tan wall variant.

Yeah I was hunting for the tan ones with no luck.

How do they hold up puncture wise? I’ll probably run them tubeless but my commute is pretty bad for glass etc, just can’t face putting marathons on my nice new commuter!

I’d say puncture resistance is very good – I’ve had zero in a couple of years, and it’s pretty flinty round here

Yeah fab! Rode the indiepac (5500km) self supported/loaded with them and got 0 punctures.

They aren’t race fast, but they are relatively cheap, grippy and good puncture resistance (YMMV)

Currently running them as winter road bike tyres and really pleased with them, will be hunting out a second pair for the commuter bike when I get around to changing tyres. I just wise they did them in a wider variant as fancy some 38s+ on the commuter bike

Woah, dude! Pictures the new bike! You know the rules.

Schwalbe Marathons have NO place in a thread that even mentions speed/rolling resistance.  Times have moved on, they are dogs. And not the kind which are acceptable in pubs.

I’ve spent all winter on some GP5000S TR. Zero issues despite me initially expecting at least a few punctures on the shitty north east roads. Grip could be a bit better though. I don’t commute on it but according to Apple Health I average 35 miles a day. If I was commuting I’d probably pick the All Seasons version of that tyre.  I have some Pathfinder Pros too and they were good just no where near as fast as the GP5000S’. I would imagine the Roubaix are very capable.

IME, they’re very good > very good > very good > why am I getting so many punctures?!

Like many tyres, they seem to fall off a cliff at the end of their life.
Caveat that I’ve never run those ones tubeless. The days I was commuting on them was before tubeless was widely available.

    It’s an old-ish Ribble CGR.

Thanks all. Got a set of tyres ordered. Apparently they’re discountinued in 30/32, but plenty of places seem to have stock still.

It was noticeable at the Paris-Roubaix that pretty much ever bike I saw on various ‘review’ vids were running top-line racing tyres, such as the GP5000 S TR.  I’m assuming the majority were tubeless and some, such as the winner were also running inserts to deal with <60psi.

Are you running your commuter bikes tubesless?
