My Lamborghini Gallardo is rubbish on the handling, even with all the gizmo’s off. It does have 672bhp though…goes well in a straight line!

Anyone know how you get a pickup truck for the pickup race?

You need to complete the IA license – bit of a pain just to complete the Amateur races.

    Nah.. you don’t 😉

Only other way to get a pick up is to wait for one to come up in the used car dealership.

Also had to wait for ages to get the Formula Gran Turismo

So, if your car likes to lock up all four wheels under even moderate braking, what can you do to sort it out? Less camber? Would the fully adjustable suspension help? OR is it just better tyres?

Brake earlier? When I’m “thinking about it” I only brake and accelerate HARD in a straight line, esp RWD…

… but then, it’s pretty rare that I consciously think about what I’m doing in the heat of the moment

Most difficult A Spec race that I have done so far is the historic race car one

It’s not about braking distance, it’s about sensitivity. Can you turn down the sensitivity of the brakes? I am using the analogue stick but even so it’s mental on some cars.

You can change front / rear brake balance, which can be useful on FR / RR cars.

Which car? The Lotus Elise on the TG challenge is a bitch to control and more front brake bias is supposed to help stop the back coming out under braking – but that doesn’t sound like the problem you’re having…

All driving aids off except ABS set to 1 seems to be a common setup – possibly to reign in this behaviour?

rkk01 – thanks for the tip re: Lotus Elise on the TG challenge. I’ve been struggling to keep control.

Yeah I wanted to turn ABS off to make myself more of a real man 🙂 Some cars are ok with everything off, some aren’t…

I think it is very dependent on tyre choice. A high powered rwd car, designed to use race tyres, will be very slidy with sport tyres.

This is the problem with the Lotus on the TG Challenge. IIRC it has comfort / standard road tyres, and drives like it’s on ice. I don’t generally use traction control or skid force recovery – but there are times when these need to be considered

Any tips on getting past the IC-10 Licence?

Seem to mess up on the first bend no matter what I do! Is it worth messing with the auto settings?

On this one, I’ve noticed they have better brakes than you. Line your self up with the inside line and you should be able to slot behind the yellow car for the first right bend.. A bit like this:

I can’t see any point to the licence tests now that they don’t unlock access to the higher levels of the game.

You get some nice’ish cars.. I did the Licences first, to get a feel for the tracks and types of cars.

none of the Licenses are very difficult, you must just be shit

Thanks for the advice there GW!

Do you think I would be asking for advice here if I was a good driver?

    [edit]

Cheers Milkie, will give that a go..

Granted, and you get cash and experience points.

But the tests are pretty much identical to the previous releases.

Ski – if you actually watch the demos (can’t rem what they call them but you should know what I mean) on every licemse test it’s pretty much a tutorial for racing the entire game.

Am I the only one who’d think it would be cool if you could drive your cars onto a transporter and then drive it around.

    I really should grow up.

Any gt5/ps3 bundle deals knocking around.Bit expensive seeing as I’ll only use it until the clocks change and I can ride more.

spend £50 on lights if that’s your only issue with riding

I’ve already spent £500 on lights-I don’t like riding in the dark 5 times a week tho.
I have many other issues with riding!

£500 on lights you don’t use? a PS3 for few months use should be but a drop in the ocean..

someone was unsuccessfully trying to sell a US one on here a few weeks back for £150, have a search and offer them less. I have 2 PS3s one of them is a canadian one I payed £100 for with games, only issue with it is it won’t play UK DVD/Bluerays which doesn’t bother me.

Had a proper play on it today at a friends. Was a huge fan of 1,2 & 3 spending valuble time getting 100% on each. I didn’t like 4 as much as it was too samey to 3, just an updated car rosta and some extra tracks. 5 looks and sounds stunning but the AI seems to stick too much to the racing line. Did enjoy myself though but can’t justify buying another console.

AI is still a weak point in the series, especially the way that they bash you up if you get in their way (I think this is why damage isn’t implemented in the GT Mode career – AI isn’t smart enough).

However, it seems to me to be improved on previous iterations of the game. The AI will now make mistakes and get out of shape themselves.

Rkk01 in the whole of GT1,2,3 & thier expansions I only ever recall the AC Cobra getting out of shape of it’s own accord.

Hehe – I tried tuning my AC Cobra to get through the historic race car event. Power was ample (- 780bhp?), downforce and and any semblance of control totally absent!!

ETA – Yes, in GT5 you will see the AI loose it without any input from the driven car…

I did the same with the cobra and that didn’t work. so i tried with a buick special ’62 but that had even more power but that just went in straight lines so eventually i won the indy 500 miles and got the jag xj13 race car. that did the trick

Is it just me or are the karting events the most fun, and quite easy? I am only level 10, (family around for crimbo so no chance to play!) playing with the Kart I won in another race somewhere along the way. Won all the Kart races in both beginner and intermediate within a couple of go’s – had the most fun doing it too!

If I could combine the gameplay, presentation. PI system and AI of Forza3 with the graphics, sound and car rosta in GT5 I would have the perfect racing game.

I’m currently using a Ferarri F40, tuned up to R2 standards with an Italia 90 livery in Forza3. Competing in an R2 championship, I won the first race, but pushed an Aston Martin into the gravel. On the second race the Aston went for me knocking me into the back of an MC12, loosing it’s rear spoiler and setting the Maseratis engine to smoke. The next corner a Bentley le man racer got pushed into the wall losing it’s right front bumper. By the final lap there were debris on most corners, i was leading into the final straight, half a second infront of the Aston, on the horizon under a pile if smoke we saw the bently struggling, on lapping it the whole right front corner was missing. The race was the opposite of the one before, my winnings halved by the need to repair my F40. I don’t know how the next race will pan out. I would love that gameplay with GT5 graphics. Would be immense.

I saw one of the AI’s lose it yesterday on the first corner at Grand Valley Speedway, very impressive slide into the gravel and barrier at speed

    Sweet Mary, mother of Jesus.

I’ve just seen a DeLorean in the Used car shop! I’d give my left testicle for one. I hope the “Mr Fusion” is in the tuning shop.
