I guess it depends on what your running, my plus trailblazer is much smaller than the 29er wheel. Front 3.0 Bridger is similar size to the 29er tho

    It’s about 10-15mm (bb height) between a 2.8 B+ and decent 2.35 29er iirc.

Is a Trailblazer even 2.8″? I thought they came up pretty small.

I swap my stache around from 29+ to 650b+ to 29er and like the ride on all three.

    Not really more a 2.6 I’d say

Just checked mine. 3″ Nobby Nic on Scrapers vs 2.1 Crossmark on Arch Ex. No difference in wheel height at all.

wonder what would happen if someone made a tyre that was the same size but half the weight…

Flats? I mean, 800g is a bit too light for a durable 2.3 tyre.

not on the front it’s not, at least, not for me. i run a 26 2.3 spesh purgatory at a smidge under 700g, reportedly, on trails consisting mainly of loam/peat over flint. YMMV.

Fair point but you still need a tyre on the back too.

Course, comparing a chupacabra and gazzaloddi doesn’t work out too well since the treads are so different too… Maybe a bridger?

yeah – i run a chunkey monkey on the back and that aint light! ( HT BTW ).
a quick google suggests a bridger is about 1100g. still a long way off the nokian’s weight, and well within the realms of what people call a trail tyre.
dunno. i’m yet to try ‘+’ in any meaningful way.
still waiting for salsa’s bikes announced in october to find their way in to the UK.
any time you like, raleigh, unless i loose patience and just go buy a trek.

Yep the TB is pretty small but it’s actually quite tall.
Taller in fact than a 2.8NN mounted on the same rim from what I can remember about comparing the heights of all the + tyres I own.
Rock n roll lifestye eh. 🙂
