Bloody hell, took a new Jones for a test ride before I handed it over to the customer. And 80s rock legend Sigue Sigue sputnik was in the beer garden…

Is that Degville?? Didn’t recognise him without the fishnet across his face.

Saw them in a little club back in the day… he walked past us and said ” Ooh you smell nice” to my mate! Happy days 🙂

    aaaah come on guys.

I know sigue sigue might not be your cup to tea (not really mine either), but he is still out there having a much better music career than “the lesbian stoners on Konas” (one of my many failed bands).

Yeah… legend. They had adverts between the tracks on their album. They were signed for between 1.5 and 4 million gbp… what a great rock sham and/or scam. They worked with Johnny Thunders and Mick Jones.

Meanwhile we work in an (insert mundane job here)
I have never met Mick Jones
We’ve never been on the Tube tv show

I know the local gig promotor, and knew they were in town… gig tomorrow night. So kinda figured it out.

He didnt say… “Hey boy… Im that bloke off top of the pops and I simply demand your curly bicycle cos it looks just divine with me combat pants”.

you win 100 points for this. Hated the band at the time, fair play to him still going after all this time. My band didn’t get anywhere 🙂

And contrary to what readers of the Sun may have believed, they were a fantastic rock n roll band live.

No Charlie don’t get us wrong, some of us remember them first time round like, bit of a “splash n dash” in he charts as far as I can remember but hey, it’s made me YTube them, for (cough) prosperity n all. The silver jumpsuits and “flock of seagulls” hair made me laugh.

Still, nice bike as I said.

Enjoy your concert/gig, rock out, beer’idge, dance, make shapes, sleep it off. Sounds most excellent. 😀

When I saw the thread title I immediately thought of Love Missile F1-11. Did they have any other hits? Anyway, fair play to him. Still living the dream and that youtube link led me to a clip of Tenpole Tudor on TotP. Happy days 🙂

I was looking for one of the headlines that they made back in the day and found this:

Googling Sigue Sigue Sputnik I noticed that there are two competing versions of the band!
Degvilles Sigue Sigue Sputnik Electronic and Tony James’ and Neal X Sigue Sigue Sputnik.
Now I like SSS Electronic and I also like SSS, but which one is better?
There’s only one way to find out…….FIGHT!!!!!

Autobiography of SSS on the tony James Site….

    Last page of the story.

I know one thing though. The Starship Sputnik will live forever, immortalised in cyberspace where it truly belongs….. And I’m really proud of that.
