Not unique, but had this sat around in a cupboard for a couple of years now.

At least it's topical 😆

I ended up with this one after I ordered one for a friend who was a massive Lance fan. I got myself one as I thought it was a bit different.

I reckon it's been in the cupboard since 2009.

Don't try and build up the price making it out to be "vintage" 😉

How much ?

Now then... I was just thinking earlier today that I might make some wooden top caps. Is that something that would be of interest to people or is it a terrible idea?

Top cap doesn't do anything once the stem is tightened down onto the spacers etc.

As long as its strong enough to hold everything down to get the stem tightened it should be ok ?

There's not a lot of pressure on a top cap (you can use an alu bolt after all, if you're brave)

I've got one of these:

Which I like, despite its naffness, but the white's coming off so it's been retired. Might need to see if Jo will get some custom made out of silver for us.

I've been wanting a different one myself.

Wood cap would look cool! It might need some metal or something to add strength and to keep it from splitting, though.

I thought of having one engraved or whatever, but can't think of anything worth putting on it!

Kinda like the stem captain compass, but not enough to pull the trigger on one.

I have one of those Mint Sauce ones somewhere but never put it on!

Not sure about a stem cap, but maybe a key ring would be nice!

Stem cap strength is not an issue. Assembly the stem etc with a normal top cap and bolt and then once everything is tight including stem bolts that grip the steerer you could take the top cap off and not even have one in therory. This one does nowt really and one weights 4.7g with bolt !

or engraved for £5 more..
like a t-shirt though, you want to go easy on the funnies, could get old fast.

kapz are tempting

MTzoom

In total weighing 4.7g, the lightweight Ritchey carbon top cap and titanium bolt which this replaced weighed 15g.
a real weightweenie would use one of these to fit the stem then remove it and save the massive 4.7g plus whatever an SFN weighs

shirley weightweenies are obsessives so aesthetics matter little?
