Finished the Croix De Fer 🙂

22lbs, 9oz with (light) pedals, which isn’t too bad as a normal Croix is 26lbs or more, and my Equilibrium is 20lbs, 8oz and that has a carbon fork and caliper brakes instead of a steel fork, BB7s, discs and disc hubs.

Would have been lighter if I had used my 24 spoke Pro 3 hubs but decided against it and went for 32 spoke Hope Pro2 EVO on Stans Iron Cross.

Using Maxxis Raze which don’t seem to hold air that well at the moment – some of which is the new valves I think so have spannered them up.

The Raze were reasonably tight on the Iron Cross, had to soap them up and use a tube to seat one side, and then pump like mad on a track pump to get the other side on.

Haven’t ridden it much yet, but it sprightlier than my mates stock Croix and am looking forward to taking it out.

My new Croix weighs about the same, maybe a tad more with Hope Pro 2/Mavic Open pros. Gatorskin tyres on at the moment, some cyclocross tyres are on their way. Loving it so far.

Currently rolling on some Smart Sams, and thinking about rebuilding with better rims…

was my commuter bike – with guards and rack etc ….

wore it out – needed a new drive train , tires , brake pads , cables etc etc etc

bought road rat alfine on C2W as it was a better tool for the job – very used ultegra chainset/BB , new chain and cog , cable inners and outers and a pair of conti cross tires i had in garage to make this for fun in the flat short loops in the woods just round the corner from the house :d

Boardman CX Team bought 2nd hand but only been ridden a handful of times! Loved it !!
