    Hi,

I’ve just replaced the grips on my Model Year 2018 Scott Genius 740. I’ve got a problem with the twinloc remote lever. Previously the handlebar mount for the twinloc remote was being used as the collar for the left grip, which I’ve now replaced with a Ergon GA2 Fat Grip, as the old grips were too small. The issue now is that the dropper post remote really doesn’t have any room under the bar any more.

Has anyone else had this issue, and how have they fixed it?
I was thinking of getting a right hand side dropper remote and mounting it over the bar, but I’m struggling to find any.

    Thanks in advance.

Your box of bits – if you still have it – contains a shim for the twinloc which you mount at the end of the grip.  If you can’t find one I’m sure you can buy/fabricate a spare or maybe someone here has one they don’t need…

Sorry should have said I’ve put the shim and got the Twinloc remote mounted fine, the issue is that now this has pushed things in so that there is no space on the bar between the end of the Grip, the Twinlocc remote and the Dropper Remote.

Remove the rear brake – you mostly use the front one anyway.
Bonus – bike is now lighter!

Move the twinloc remote inboard further?

Might help if you can find a picture of the twinlock setup you have, there are a few different versions.

You can use a right hand on top left and dropper below.

You can get a twinlock with an integrated dropper leaver (mechanical)

I have a Spark with the same setup as the 2nd photo from Bigyan – so this may not all apply:

When I replaced the grips – I didnt have the spare shim – so I used a junior hacksaw to remove the inside edge of the old grip to act as the shim for the levers with the new grips.

As an aside: note that I got fed up with the 3 cables into one lever setup in the end – and got a separte lever for the dropper : branded Giant and put that on the right hand side.

Did a bit more digging and I could replace the 2018 Twinloc remote with this 2019 version that has an integrated dropper remote built in

or I could do something similar to what this bloke did

I use a 2x dropper thumb release above the bar and my remote underneath. Depends which one you are using the most.

An aftermarket dropper remote which mounts to your brake lever?

I have to say I’m not a fan of the twinloc with 2x style integrated dropper thumb button.
It’s just not ergonomically good and having run a 1x dropper for so long it’s no longer intuitive when having to grab post and shock when the trail goes front steep down to steep up. The post is the priority for me.. I can still happily descend in traction mode but prefer to have the seat out of the way.
Im suprised Scott haven’t come up with a solution like the vid above.. I did see another manufacturer with a really neat solution for their own application but forget where.
However, in the vid.. if ditching the fork remote, I’m not sure why he didn’t run his wolf tooth with an old fox CTD thumb lever. That would’ve been neater.

I’m also still unclear where you are running out of room? Is it that you can’t reach the brake lever as its an extra 10mm inboard due to the Ergon clamp?
