I’ve had a 32gb USB delivered to me this morning. I didn’t order it, it’s not on my credit card or paypal bill, it’s not in my order history. Amazon can’t find any record of it and say it’s just a packing mistake. They also say to keep it.

Am I being paranoid in thinking there’s anything more sinister going on?

NSA or China. No doubt. Don’t plug it in!

Given what they are worth, I’d just bin it.

On a unrelated note, my sister got a Henry hoover delivered to her by accident from Amazon. She tried solidly for a month to get them to try and collect it. Ended up keeping it, as Amazon didn’t seem that bothered.

I’d re-format it a couple of times and use it. If it’s sealed in proper packaging it’s unlikely to be iffy, although it could be a knock-off. Re-format and check the capacity, it should be ok.

It’s all fully packaged in Amazon livery and exactly matches the second amazon package I’d actually ordered.

    I’ll give it a go

It’s the only way to be sure

    Jamie, that’s a scary link.

Difficult to see how there can be a problem if the stick is re-formatted without clicking on it and seeing if there’s anything on it.
You should be able to just choose it from the list of connected devices and select re-format or just format.

We got a completely random cookbook delivered through Amazon, got a chat going and they confirmed it wasn’t from them, transcript was emailed to us after confirming we could keep / dispose as we wanted with the item..

Formatting won’t do shit if it’s a firmware based exploit.

Pook, would you be the kind of person who someone might want to get to? Public sector worker, military, police?
