Having got bored waiting for my new middleburn uno crankset to arrive, decided to fit an evolve xc crankset I recently removed from another frame. Installation of BB went fine, although frame hasn’t been faced, non drive side crank arm in, but for the life of me can’t get the drive side crank arm on the spline! Is there a knack to this?

IIRC you can't just push it on. It will be such a tight fit that you'll need to push it on by tightening the crank bolt in to the spindle.

Not sure the exact age of mine but still an external bottom bracket.

so i think you use an 8mm allen key to tighten inner bolt of the crank clockwise. if you do get it to tighten you go for as hard as you can. then you get a 10mm allen key and turn this conter-clockwise to lock the previous bolt.

sorry if this is what you've already tried. this is just from memory and the allen sizes may differ. i've had no problems without faceing the bottom bracket.

It takes a scary amount of force to tighten the fecker onto the axle.
