I’ve been shooting motorsport for a couple of years now. Always from the wrong side of the fence. I knew I needed insurance but I’ve been putting it off until I really needed it. Now I’m booked for a few events this year and have to go legit.

I’ve just started looking and all the websites look the same, they all promise the same cover, so I’m after first hand experience if possible.

What level of cover should I look for? Should I combine liability and gear? What should I be paying?

    Any help appreciated.

Towergate is who i use but I’ve not had to make a claim yet. PL, PI and gear.

Williamson and Carson. Photography and film specialists, good for increasing cover for shoots that that involve multi million pound cover for bling and property at short notice. My policy costs what some others charge just for employers and public liability.

Aduki is the one that comes up in most searches. Online quote comes back at £158. I’ll ring them tomorrow and get something more specific.

Has anyone actually had to make a claim? I had my van broken into while my camera box and laptop were hidden under a seat. All they grabbed was a plastic bag full of soggy, just ridden in underwear. I now live in fear of being properly cleaned out.

Most insurers have different excesses and limits for vehicles. On mine I am not covered for leaving equipment unattended in a vehicle overnight, but that’s just common sense really.
I pay £650 for 20k of equipment (inc portfolios, computers etc), 2k of goods in trust, data recovery, legal cover, employers and public liability which I think is up to 2million.
