I did wonder what the bruising was about. I just thought I may have been a bit enthusiastic!

I find that abscess video strangely compulsive viewing.

The only thing lacking was it wasn’t in HD.

Ingrowing, trapped hair I reckon which has just burst through.

Last year I went to local hospital with a bite on my shin, lower leg red/ yellow and tender stuck it for two days, saw Treage nurse then waited two hours, in the end I stopped passing doctor and asked if it was worth waiting anymore, quote “Am i going to die or leg drop off” he said no and I’m still here

Not sure of the cause of the abcess in the vid, I was sent the link ages ago by a work mate.

Just looks like an insect bite. I’ll get a few like that every year. For some reason the little buggers seem to favour my calves. Keep it clean, stick some antiseptic cream on it and you’ll be right in a few days.

Looks like cellulitis to me, though I’m not sure if it comes on that quickly. Bugger to get rid of.

To me it just looks like an inset bite. But it does seem to have developed very quickly for a normal bite.

Normally I get biten it swell up massively esp on my calves, then I pick the centre and it looks just like that. Normally take about 24 hours to look like that though.

As much fun as that maybe I don’t think they are very prolific in Bridgend.

Mate, I’m local too and after a night out in The Roof or Toms Bar, being bitten by a bot fly would be preferable and less painful messy to some of the things that were out the other night…..

Only noticed it on way home last night. So it could have been more than 24 hours.

Horse fly innit. Have actually looked down while riding and seen em in full suck mode before. Takes weeks to heal.

This is why I now don’t wear shorts unless its roasting.

Probably your safest option is to amputate the leg and burn it ASAP.

fairly sure that is a horse fly bite. I get 3 or 4 a year, normally the area swells and goes rock hard (and hot) for a few days.

Had a very similar thing on my arm the other week, big red lump that put out pus for 2 days along with quite a tender armpit. Took some penicillin I found in the cupboard and it settled down.

Not recommending self medicating but had no time to see my GP

On the bright side its not on your nuts, where i found one last year

What were you doing near his nuts?

I had something very similar to that this last week. It reacted and it swelled into a hard area about the size of a ten pence. It was very itchy and hard to stop scratching. It sort of turned into a scabby top, and wept a bit.

The itching has gone now and I’m left with a small scab which is diminishing. I’ve had this sort of thing before and I reckon it’s just a bite of some kind, probably a horse, or a fly, or a horse fly.

It is my professional opinion, as a cabinetmaker that you have nothing to worry about.

cellulitis takes time and you get lot of swelling, heat and red lines around it. My wife had that last year after a horsefly bite.

    That video. Awesome.

be surprised if it was a horse fly, bit early in the season, i tend to get 7-8 each year, but it tends to be may june july. You will know it it is.

at least it isn’t a coral polyp…. wasn’t nice seeing that come out….

If it’s a tick/Lyme disease you want to get on antibiotics asap.

Nope it seems to be a horsefly bite according to the Dr. Just have to keep it clean and don’t pick it 🙁
