That Escort at Brightwells is worth nowhere near £20k as a rally car, if it makes that it will be because someone who’s not into motorpsort got a bit giddy.

The Brightwell escort needs a bda engine to make you want it, even just looking at these engines was like porn back then. Minilites if original ones were so expensive in the 70’s but look so good

Are you saying you can get a fully built Mk1 rally car elsewhere for less ?

    Amazing cars 🙂

Never had a RWD Ford – always loved them but went the Opel route instead 🙂

One of my staff has a lotus Corrina in racing livery with a 2jrz twin turbo fitted to it.

Haven’t seen it for a while but with extra wide tires on it tramlined like mad everywhere and was a handful in the wet.

Some lovely cars, total fast Ford fan but it was Capris for me. Had 3 and finished up with a 280. Mk2 lotus cortina if I had to choose these days. I still like the new cars too even if they look a bit boy racer.

    Great thread!
After learning to drive in a vw bus, I had a mk1 1100 escort as first car….4 door though, with the square headlights, so off trend! That got written off by an artic turning right, and dragging me down the road for a bit! Then, I paid £100 for a cortina mk2 1600E which had been sprayed Daytona yellow, and had previously been used as a getaway car…so that had a bit of poke!
Then back to VW’s for a while before building a mk3 escort van, with the complete running gear from an RS1600i…that bloody thing flew!
Now I’m old and married, the family car is a Kuga, while I still have a type2 camper as my guilty pleasure!
