I will try and make the trip to the cinema. In the new year I reckon 🤔.
Had the Ghostbusters reboot been released yet? Or will that be out around Halloween?

Kind think that’s maybe an alternative storyline.

Is what I was thinking – there is a lot of reference to the pills in the trailer and that could suggest they play a significant part of the story. In the original (correct me if I am wrong) if he took the red pill he would forget the meeting with Morpheus and just carry on being a part of the construct but taking the blue freed him to become Neo.

In this film perhaps he is taking the blue pills to keep him in his new ‘reality’ (he throws a load down a basin).

Or I could be talking ballcocks.

Can anyone explain what happened at the end of 3 that might lead to Keanu, and Trinity being apparently back in the Matrix, and unaware?

IIRC they both died in robot city… It’s not a massive narrative leap to suggest that they just plugged the corpses in, jump started their tickers and wiped their memories…

I reckon the twist might be that they plugged Trinity back in, but Neo went full leccy, and is now a disembodied Spirit/Program…. Woooo

    Like Dark City!

Maybe it’s just another simulation inside the first one and so on. Like Existenz.

Certainly a lot of these weird films around in the late 90s.

So we’ve got a self-driving Trinity and a hybrid Neo?

    Truly the future.

I quite enjoyed the third one, soz. Though was it 2 or 3 that had the pretentious french dude droning on for ages?

The Matrix Reloaded is the greatest film ever made. If you know, you know

The original was filmed in my old neighbourhood in Sydney – standing outside a coffee shop tucked away down an alley thinking “This all seems very familiar…. I’m sure I’ve been here before” is perhaps the most perfect piece of irony possible.

Apparently there is a new John Wick about to come out. Possibly made them at the same time…

So it wasn’t just me thinking “ah, they’ve got John Wick to play Neo this time” then?

Why is John Wick in the new Matrix film?

Also, the trailer says “This Christmas.” Do they really mean that or will it be next Christmas because folk don’t want to go to the cinema in sufficient numbers? Or are they simply messing with our heads in true Matrix fashion?

He’s done a few interviews saying he wasn’t asked to be in it. Could be a secret reveal I guess.

I was wondering the same (about both him and Hugo Weaving). We can but hope.

    Saw this on twitter… 😀

how does a Matrix movie work in 2021? I’m supposed to be scared of living in a fake reality, trapped forever in 1999? Shit, frost my tips and log me in

I don’t think you’re exactly wrong. I do think it may be alternative version where he delayed taking the pill.

Ha, that’s great. Come to think of it, they did mention in the first movie that the matrix was created as a simulation of the peak of our civilisation. 🤔

Yeah I have seen various articles reviewing the trailer that are supposing similar theories.

2021 – The year they ran out of ideas*

    * I say that, but I will most likely see all these films, especially Dune, the David Lynch film will always have a place in my heart, but it has been crying out for someone to come along and make a belter of a version, and I have nothing but faith in Denis Villeneuve

But the film industry could really do with investing some of the filthy money they’re making from the Marvel Migraine films and punt it into cultivating some fresh and original ideas

Already happened, RoboCop(y), 2016 Ghostbusters, the Disney CGI remakes etc. All pretty lazy attempts.

At least the above look all look to be pretty decent attempts.

I chose my wording very carefully because of that. Thinking “fun” rather than any classics (but still considerably better than any Marvel)

All throughout that trailer I was just hoping for the inimitable “Mr Anderson” but alas. Still looks like it has potential though.

Totally agree, Thankfully there are still good films being made, not everyone’s cup of tea or big earners but just good solid films. I’m probably not right in my thinking, there are films out there, but they get lost in the shouting match of the blockbusters, and it’s the blockbusters that are all the remakes (which I suppose makes perfect sense)

I suppose if they’re being successful and bringing in the cash, at least we get films like The Green Knight, Midsommar (barmy and gorgeous to look at) Dredd (uber violent and a perfect palette cleanser to the Stallone film) and Parasite (stonking, good fun, a great story and possibly my favorite film of recent years)

I need to put my film snob back in the cupboard

Your not wrong about a lack of new ideas, apparently Disney are doing (another) remake of Planet of The Apes.

Nothing wrong with being a film snob! Some people have higher standards, is all 😃 Original was groundbreaking. Sequels were dire & unnecessary, but understandable on the grounds that a trilogy/story arc was part of the original vision (although very much had the effect of making the greatness of the first film appear more luck than judgement!)

This is just pointless wrt said artistic vision, although from the trailer actually does look like reasonably enjoyable brainless action fodder. At least one of the original directors is too embarrassed to have anything to do with it though 🤣

I’ve gone back and watched the trailer again… I’ve got over them using White Rabbit for the music… and I’m all onboard and giving them the benefit of the doubt… fingers crossed.

No Fishburne is a big mistake for me though. The story might demand it, perhaps, but it’s a disappointment.
