Looking to explore Long Myndd trails – never been there before.

Hoping to bivvy up there somewhere. Anyone got any recommended bivvy spots they are happy to share?

Would also like a steer on good bike friendly pub for eve food and cafe for breakie (I like to eat well while on a bivvy trip!).

    Thanks.

I’ve only been up on day trips up there but if you include the Stipperstones in with the Lond Mynd then the Stipperstones Inn[/url] might be the pub your looking for

Theres a nice pub with good food at bridges (the horseshoe inn ), near ratlinghope which is just off the backside of mynd on the way to the stipperstones if u head over there its a great loop about 35miles id say round trip with some great downhills. Ive not yet wildcamped the mynd its one to do but there are lots of good spots up there where ul be left alone.

The Horseshoes Inn @ Ratlinghope/Bridges is currently closed, will be reopening in the summer…

Me and Blasty once did a great ride over from the other side of Shrewsbury (Clive) to the Long Mynd, we had a loose plan to bivvy on the top but no real idea, got to Ratlinghope for about 8:30pm, had a beer, then decided to head over to Church Stretton, went to the Kings Arms (I think) and had a few pints of Landlord, the nice landlady phoned our curry order through and looked after our bikes while we went off to eat.

About 1am we pushed our bikes up Cardingmill Valley after discounting the shelter afforded by the NT cafe benches and headed for Pole Cottage.

After kicking out the sheep we got to sleep, the floor was quite clean really, don’t think the sheep pood there, which is odd as they poo everywhere else.

Stiperstones is good, you could easily find a spot to bivvy somewhere up Perkins Batch or even in Eastridge Woods.

Or head for the pub in All Stretton – The Yew Tree, normally has a couple of good beers on and the food is good, landlord has a dry wit, and then head up The Batch Valley a km, plenty of flat ground and no one about, lovely spot.

    Thanks All.

I will unfold the map and start planning based on the above.

We were up at Stipersones a few weeks back, the The Stiperstones Inn does nice food & ale.

I am getting to ride & know the area a bit better, but there are certainly lots of places & options available to bivvy…..I might even get around to having a go myself, never done bivvying.

“Divvy, aah eh. Calm down, calm down.”

Great ride from Long Mynd to and then bivvy at the Devil’s Chair at 520m on the Stiperstones. The Devil comes out at night. Well worth a look, views all around, big rocks to tuck in behind. Pub just 1 mile west down the hill in Stiperstones village. http://www.stiperstonesinn.co.uk/

Great pub in Wentnor, The Crown Inn at south west side of Long Mynd.

Superb pub in Cardington, 1 mile east of Caer Caradoc ancient hill fort (great bivvy spot) with bways all around, just 1 mile east of Church Stretton. http://www.at-the-oak.com/

    Good times.
