Hi all, this is more of asking a favour.

My mate has managed to get his idea into the brick link designer program.

He’d appreciate a vote if you like it and can be bothered to.

    Thanks

I avoid getting into Lego as it seems like an expensive rabbit hole to dive down. I’ll maybe get a moderate set at Christmas to scratch an itch.

Every once in a while, there’s a model that really piques my interest a that Colonial Viper is one of them.

Not sure if this is already in the thread somewhere, but figured it was worth a post anyway! Not the most intricate build, but it’s pretty cool! ?

I got the Lego Tuxedo Cat last week, it is pleasingly life-sized and reminds me of a much-missed cat my parents had when I was at school and at university.

Edit: I’ve had a few goes at uploading an image of the cat and it’s not working. 🙁 Hopefully a direct link to a Discord URL will work for everyone.

@daffy Is the Viper an authorised kit, your own work or a MOC/Lepin jobbie?

I’ll probably be pre-ordering the Jaws kit. It’ll be my first big kit but it’s one of my absolute favourite films.

    @Harry_the_Spider

it’s a MOC by Davidup.  You can buy the plans.  Genuine Lego pieces, but I’ve now made quite a few alterations to make it more in proportion.  I’ve done the belly fairing and the side engines and as soon as I’ve got the parts, will extend the nose by 2cm.  I still also need to consider the centre engine intake which I’m not happy with.

I’ve already made the jaws scene, don’t think I’ll bother getting the kit 😉

Only trouble with the Jaws set is that the shark looks too realistic!

@daffy That MK7 viper is all very well, but what happens when the cloudstrike software update goes wrong ? 🙂

On a slightly more relevant note – I really fancy building a viper, but don’t have the parts needed to build the UCS scale one  – have you had a look at the 600ish parts MOCs on ebay and if so , what did you think?

I’m not at all sure about the smaller kits, I’ve never looked into them.  This was about £225 all in including plans, bricks and postage,  there’s not too much that’s rare or unusual in this one.

I got a smaller viper mk1 from buildmoc, just cos I don’t have any sort of usable collection to work from. It’s… alright. Quite slabby and the central body construction was an absolute shitshow, the sort of final assembly that you’re really just hoping it works and that everything lines up just so without pushing anything else out, took a few attempts. But it scratched my itch, for about £15.

As ever not recommending this seller in particular, or this listing, it might be cheaper elsewhere. I’m not sure I’d recommend it as a build-your-own MOC, the basic design isn’t that hot but as a cheap kit it was definitely worth it.

    I’ve pre-ordered the Mercedes G wagon..should ship in August.

It’ll sit alongside the Landrover, and the Lambo Sian on my big windowsill…

Just wondering if there’s enough space for a P1 as well!

    There’s a backstory here.

I had a LEGO set that was missing from the official LEGO archive!

I was in Denmark on Thursday to deliver a set I owned that they were missing from their collection. It was a pretty special experience, and I had a great time.

I met with LEGO Idea House director Jette Orduna and Signe Wiese Bundsbæk, who is a corporate historian. (Signe is in the photo with me.)

The Byggepinner was a plastic building system patented by LEGO in Denmark, but only sold on the Norwegian market back in the mid-1950s for a short time. My set was found in some cardboard boxes in the attic of a Norwegian toy store which closed all the way back in 1959.

Someone must have copied those, because we had a little plastic  box of them as kids (70’s). Can’t see how we’d have had 50’s Lego ones. Wonder if my sister has them, she cleared the toys out of mum’s loft before we sold her house?

I’ve no idea, but I suspect that various brands of “construction toys” were popular for a while before Lego and Meccano gained dominance.

I had one which was already old when I got it given by an elderly neighbour.  It consisted of a green base with holes, metal rods to slot vertically into the holes, then plastic panels to slot in between the rods.  You could build houses and… uh, houses.  Thinking about it, it probably was too early for plastic even, maybe Bakelite or something.

On my list as well along with Force of Creativity book.

Need to finish my tie bomber MOC first.

The Force of Creativity is on my happy birthday to me list.

Not so fussed by Jabba’s barge, but I’m seriously tempted by the Forest Stronghold. Would go with my Lion Knight’s Castle an absolute dream.

Oh my word. I had the fire station in that book and I know the pieces are kicking around. Not sure I have all the roller door bits.

I’ve also got most of the parts of the original technic JCB but have never finished it due to missing parts.

should really buy the missing parts and finish it

I think my brother had that fire station, those roller shutters were a pain. I had a airport of similar vintage with a white plane, helicopter and green base plates.

I’ve hopefully added a titanic to the collection this week from eBay. Unopened for a fair bit less than retail. I say hopefully as only noticed afterwards it was a relatively new eBay account and the seller messaged yesterday to announce a dispatch delay! Eek.

I had the police station and petrol station (both bought second hand for presents one christmas about 40 years ago).  They are still complete and in my parents loft with a load of the road base plates and other cars/vehicles form that era.

Bought the technic Airbus H175 yesterday, arriving today so that’s this evening’s activities sorted.

Along with the Mint Sauce book appearing this month, things are starting to get expensive.

In other news I skipped the Forest Stronghold (too big and too expensive really), but due to my strong nostalgia for all things Lego Pirates have ordered A Minifigure Tribute from a BrickLink seller. Reckon it’ll go very nicely next to my Black Seas Barracuda.
