Is my hanger bent

When I tighten my rear Maxle , it becomes hard to pedal as if something is holding my wheel, but the wheel spins freely , is it either a bent maxle or hanger or what ever , thanks for your help .

Probably your freehub bearings, the whole lot’s probably spinning on the axle until you tighten it.

Your hanger would have to be SERIOUSLY bent to stop your wheel turning. Dead bearings seems more likely.

Like those guys said. But tbh your hanger might be bent too, it’s the default state IME- any time I’m working on a bike, whether it’s mine or a mate’s, I always like to check it and it’s always, always bent.

I’d estimate about 95% of brand new bikes come with bent hangers out of the box.
