Got called a ‘spanner’ by a car driver today, made me chuckle as I haven’t heard it used as an insult since I was at school.

What other insults do you just not hear these days?

Spastic (or any other derogatory name for the mentally impaired) which I never liked in the 1st place, and am really glad it fell out of favour (well I assume it has)

    ‘Joey’. Quite rightly, too.

I heard Samuel Pepys wife refer to him as a pricklouse on the radio earlier this week. Don’t think it’s been in use for a while, but I might try it out this week.

    2nd for wassock.

I used to like neck-ache, usually abreviated to just “neck”

Ok, before anyone goes any further – is there an understanding that none of us would actually use any of these insults, and we all agree they’re all wrong and should never be used by anyone, ever?

In fact, no, forget it; there’s no way I’m going to repeat the childhood insults from a South Yorkshire pit village..!

La gauge d’huit in French, I specifically learnt it expecting to use it to shout at stupid French people on holidays, don’t really care if it wouldn’t have the same impact, but not had the opportunity to shout it so far, I live in hope.

Dillon, as in you f****n Dillon,

but topped yesterday, when out walking with the misses in the village where she lived until she went to uni,
we bumped into one of her old friends brothers, while talking to him he was reliving how my wife and her best friend Ju, (still her best friend) would turn up at his brothers house after the pubs had kicked out and get his poor brother to make them tea and grub with out offering any kind of favours in return,

He proclaimed on behalf of his brother that my misses was a bit if a ‘User’,

laughed my nuts off at that as it was the first time I had heard that used since the 80’s , classic ammo

Binner (as in you go through bins for whatever… food, clothes etc)
    Bummer (no explanation needed)
    Flid
Don March (as in “yer Don March”), which was the ame of the bus company said window lickers boarded.
    Pykie
    Gypo
Didi (all to do with the travelling fraternity)
    Spacker
    Spaz
    Mongol
    Joey
    Rem (remedial)
Fuzzbuz (taken from a special needs intervention)

I do not condone any of these – its just a fleeting tumble down memory lane; I used to get called most of them, but the most memorable insults I got called were:

**** (I’m not, but tan very easily + spent most days out on my bmx & quite rightly outlawed)
jai (Tarzan’s young boy helper – my skin colour again)
    Gypo (we were poor)
Bath Boy (in the Miner’s strike, my dad was out, and we were skint. I shared a bath with a mate at their house and somebody found out – it took a while to forgive my parents that one)
