Some of you have been doing really well! I'm impressed. 😀

I posted in another thread about my fruit intake. It has always been quite considerable especially with the British raspberries and strawberries in season. Have now cut out fruit completely (apart from one day) and have not experienced hunger/weakness/lightheadedness.

Haven't managed to give up my few carbs though but am really enjoying loads of fresh vegetables.

Any one got any ideas of what else to do with spinach?

    Make salads with it?

Don't forget this is NOT A ZERO CARB DIET.

Hit up bbcgoodfood.com[/url] and search for spinach. This website has been a godsend for me on this plan, type in lentils and boom! loads of recipes I never knew existed.

My missus made a spinach+feta cheese+raisin+filo pastry "bake" of some kind last week. I think it's north African? Recipe could be online – check out BBC food, etc.

Tasted great – very light but also kind of filling (well, after seconds and a bit of thirds it did :-))

Good link there Jamie, thanks. 8)

That pastry bake sounds good too. Is pastry allowed ❓

Pastry contains flour, so refined white carbs. So no.

alexxx with lots of x's was 'responsible' for mailing out. Don't pester iDave with it, it's not 'his' plan, and he doesn't really want to get that involved mentoring everyone and asking all our questions but dips in every now and then in a mardy sort of way. 😉

And whatever you do don't respond to any of SFB's posts.

LOL I think the only thing 'allowed' in there is spinach if you count feta as dairy

To remove US from the setup, go to the language section in the control panel. There's a hot-key for switching it, and there's also a system tray thingy but that can be disabled. Best thing is to just remove the US one.

    I use alt-130 on the keypad. I didn't know alt-gr-e worked.

    ééééé

How do you get ê and è using alt-gr?

molgrips are you still being the control, i.e. dieting heavily on a conventional diet + bike exercise? I'm enjoying how you have embraced this.

    molgrips

I am the still the 'control' yes. Although dieting heavily is putting it rather generously 🙂 I am eating as little as I can manage whilst doing my training, so I am putting my faith in exercise really, and eating for cycling ie high carbs etc.

Just helping out the iDave folk as best I can still 🙂 I don;t think his diet's bad at all, I'm sure it works. The reason I'm not on it is that I can be a funny eater, but mainly because I think I need the carbs to train.

beats the hell out of me, éóáúÉÓÚíÍÁ€ is all I can find, and ALT-130 doesn't work on mine!

Week 2 for me ended yesterday- 14:10, down from 14:13 at the end of the first week, and 15:6 at the start. So only 3 lbs lost for the week.
I'm not feeling the need (habit I guess) to continually snack anymore, which is great, had two (not particularly difficult) nights out on the bike this week, and don't seem to have suffered. Blowout day on the Saturday wasn't the huge thing I thought it would be, didn't feel the urge to binge. Couple of bits of cheese on toast, 2 milkshakes, steak and chips, two beers.
Not too bothered about tomorrow's to be honest, but it's in the plan, so guess I got to suffer..

10lbs in 2 weeks is excellent, well done.

I've found the same on blowout day and don't have much except pasta or rice with curry. I did also succumb, on my non-blowout day, to the temptation of a fairly huge black pudding supper from the chippy when I passed through Jedburgh on Monday.

    It was magnificent

Ok been on for 1 week now. Trying my best to mtfu and stick it but have managed one or two minor slips everrday.

For sweets, I found the ryebread free from cake in sainsbury's very good and i think it's allowed (if you pick off some of the sweetened ginger bits).

Getting a bit sick of beans now. and omelettes.

But at least today has been my normal food day.

Oh and I never eaten so much meat in one week before! thats been good.

Heh…I nailed porridge/large Dominos pizza/2x Boxes Cookies from Sainsburys yesterday. Felt kinda bad after the pizza tho, so did 20miles on the bike.

This is where I got confused on week one. Make scrabbled eggs, boiled aswell as omlettes. I have been eating more salad and vegetables than beans in week two as the beans just did not really work for me.

And the day off yesterday was brilliant. I had PIZZA!

Day off today had 3 chocolates, 2 cookies, 1 big cookie, 1 ice cream cone, 1 piece of cheese and bread.

I thought the day off would be more fun. The ice cream was a bit sickly.

I fell off the wagon today…..was not an off day but stopped in a pub while out in my mates new VXR and had a bowl of chips and a Guinness. Not the end of the world tho I guess….

Just jump back on it then, I have mucked up occasionally just by not engaging my brain before eating but I have still lost 7 pounds in under 2 weeks.

Ok. I have now been run over by the wagon and in a pub drinking beer and eating crisps. Tomorrow is another day tho 8)

iDave is a very, very busy fellow.

So, if people e-mail me, I'll see what I can do to meet the requests for information on this.

Haven't managed to give up my few carbs
We're not giving-up Carbs, just eating different sources of carbs.

It seems simple to me. Either you do as the guide suggests and lose weight, or you do something else and see what happens.
No one is holding a gun to my head, I'm choosing to make a change.
Even if that takes a little work.
    😉

I've learnt a fair amount about different foods, i'd never cooked with beans or lentils before, overall its been a very positive experience.

My thoughts exactly !, my hat off to you for rolling your sleevs up and getting stuck in. Good stuff 😀

Its bean nearly three weeks now. Its definately worked !.

Its been an eye opener for me and I will carry the knowledge with me and I shall continue eating the meals I have learnt to make, along with the compatible items/meals I was already eating before I tried this.
recipe suggestions posted here have also been much appreciated.

As already posted by others, I view this exercise as me learning new stuff to incorporate into my on-going healthier eating habits/choices.

iDave. You could have done nothing, you could have stayed quiet about what you know, but instead you decided to share and to help. Thank you very much.

I have popped on 3lbs….had one extra 'off day' unfortunately this week, but still surprised. As I have been strict for the other 5 days. Maybe I am taking the eat as much as you want of nuts/egss/meat etc too far?

    Bugger.

    Solo

Yeah, I found that for me, the nuts were slowing progress.

I guess that just cos its written down for us, doesn't mean we should stop observing how our individual bodies take to what we're choosing to eat.

    Some fine-tunning may be required.

But iDaves' suggestions point us in a good direction. imo.

    🙂

Go on then spill the beans (no pun intended) How much have you lost?

I have done 7 pounds in probably about 8 days and could have done more if I had concentrated more.

    Tails.

I've no scales, but things are trimmer, belts set to their usual position are loosening around the waist now. Its all good.

And the longer it goes on, the easier I find it. I do not miss anything, cos I've not given anything up.

I just hold-off for the Choc, cheese, beer, etc, until Saturdays.
But even then I don't go mad. I don't need much of a quality cheese or Beer to apprecate the flavours, esp if I don't have them every day.

I may purchase some scales soon, but I'm in no hurry.

We can all tell when we've lost weight and its happened for me, and was easy.

Same here, my first day off I didn't really eat much more drinking as I was away so took 3 days off then jumped back on. Still lost alot of weight.

This sat was my first proper day off and I ate a fair bit of sugary food as I felt I should but did not enjoy the sugar low.

C_G not going to read all the pages… has anyone suggested adding the spinach to the lentils?

I had my first blow-out on Sat (bacon+mushroom sarnie, home-made chicken+ham pie and scotch egg, cheese on toast, home-made pizza, home-made raspberry millefeuille (sp), 3 pints and half a bottle of red.

Had a few extra carbs yesterday too, but I did do a 60 mile MTB ride to justify it.

I reckon my weigh-in might be a tad heavier than Friday's.
