Seeing what a difference it makes having someone to follow to riding blind… seeing him get left for dust and then giving himself more and more of a talking to because he’s pulling up on stuff just because he can’t see what it is…getting tired because he’s having to drag his brakes…cursing himself some more…

This is basically my life at press camps, where the guides lead out the train, all the male journos disappear following them, and then I get dropped somewhere and end up riding a blind enduro race on a new bike on new trails. Next time it happens I shan’t berate myself quite so much for being a failure!

I agree, that was a great watch. I’m enjoying the Gasto vlogs. He’s accomplished and relatively comfortable with riding the track… yet he’s also finding it hard work. Weirdly I really like the way you can hear his breathing as it shows how hard he’s working.

Fwiw my ‘performance bantz’ comment was just after watching a bit of gasto vlog and he started rapping but I didn’t watch the whole thing. I really like brayton and met him on the caersws uplift 15-16 years ago and he was all mild mannered. And also watch BK a lot and it can get a bit wearying. But he’s a good guy. Sos. I retract my comments. I’m just jealous I’m not riding the track in tassie

The race pace quali runs (on Kerr’s YT Channel) are something to behold

@chrismac – I think only a couple of the women had hit the big jumps at the bottom by that point so couldn’t register full runs (see BK’s qualy vid at about 5:30 where the marshall is talking to BK and Tahnee about it).

Dunne put on a cracking run for sure and with that post race interview a shiny new helmet can’t be far off – Dream red bull rider lol! 4 before the race and 1 after I wouldn’t like to be sharing a room with him tonight.

Enjoyed it! I think we’re going to be in for a really good, tight, competitive season.

What an event. So many people on the mountain. Putting a bar in the container used for the drop was a brilliant idea. The videos really don’t do justice to how bloody big it was.

I have been having a bit of a time getting excited about riding of late. Had a crash last Oct and only just ready to ride again, watching that yesterday has fired me up again, it was fantastic. As already said, highlight for me was Lou Fergusson getting up from those 2 crashes and still completing the run. My brain would have had me running for the closest airport and back on a plane to the safety of my couch in the UK after the first crash let alone the 2nd.
