Reading various links, the above three seem to be favourites. What’s your thoughts? I think it was the format that was becoming a bit stale, not sure how new presenters will liven it up enough for me to start enjoying it again.

If they were, I don’t think I would watch it.

With the amount of hilarious witty banter on this thread, I think the Beeb need to rethink their new presenters.

I’m not holding out much hope. They’re clearly deploying Glenister and the obtuse Neanderthal Clarkson replacement, Guy Martin as the ditty act first and think later Hammond replacement and Jodie as the intelligent voice of reason James May replacement, so it doesn’t bode well as it appears to me they’re looking to emulate the current show. Their only hope is to completely re-invent it.

Also it’ll be painfully politically correct and non-offensive. Based on For The Love Of Cars, I find Glenister a bit Awkward as a presenter and not the type of person that can build a rapport with other presenters. Guy Martin is great, but he’s a bit of a one-man band, again, I can’t see him building any rapport with the others. Hope i’m wrong, but I liked Clarkson’s TG, even though it was starting to get a bit repetitive and tired, but the three presenters had a good rapport with each other, and they each played a certain character, which gave it a different dimension. It was a refreshing change to the other sterile and mundane TV you get on the beeb. It’ll be another Fifth Gear – a bit ‘meh’. Hope i’m wrong.

I’m not even keen on their pasties so I doubt I’ll like their version of Top Gear.

I can’t imagine Guy Martin being happy as a Top Gear presenter. I get the impression he would rather strip a supercar down to its component parts to see how it works than drive it which may upset Ferrari. Especially as he would probably criticise the quality of their work. Plus he would probably take the ‘build a silly vehicle’ challenges a bit too seriously and actually produce something that works.

Let it die with a bit of dignity. It was never going to last forever, just let it go.

What was that Hot Gear thing Chris Evans was going on about?

How many times? Without the three idiots the current format is DEAD.

That German bird would be annoying after a few episodes. Guy Martin- I dont have a clue what hes saying. Chris Evans wouldnt do it. Kidd is dull. Her co-presenter creepy.

The only one I’d rate as a guest/third presenter is Ben Collins.

Its a poison-challice. Who would try who is half decent? No one.

The stuff has done for the Telegraph recently and his spot on the Classic Car Show have been pretty good. He has become a half decent presenter and by god can he drive.

Isn’t part of the appeal the fact that none of the (last) three were talented drivers?
Sadly, TG is too valuable to be left on the shelf.

    Cohen wanted it fragged anyway.

Clarkson isnt that bad a driver. He’d give all of us the run around. Just because he isnt ex-racing driver material. His abrasive style has upset/murfed many for decades. I bought performance car mag in the 90’s partly on the back of his writting in there.

Odd one out here, haven’t watch TG in years 😳
Has become stale, boring and childish.
As an ex mechanic, having worked on a few rally and race cars it along with TOTP, Old Grey Whistle Test, BTCC and F1 used to be the only stuff I tried not to miss before recorders were invented 🙄

The BBC doesn’t seem to realise that Top Gear isn’t really about cars. It’s about being mates, being blokes together. That’s why Top Gear worked and why people, like me, with little interest in cars, and certainly not the technical details, enjoyed it. They also forget that two of the three presenters were originally journalists, who understood how to craft a clever line. It would invite cruel comparisons to put presenters like Kidd and Martin in their place.

I pretty sure the BBC new exactly what it was about they kept it going along enough in that format.

Yes, if there’s one thing you can say about the cancellation of a show mid series after the star drunkenly lamped one of his colleagues it’s that it was a dignified way to go.

Look at it this way, they simply HAVE to bring TG back. The consequences are too much to even think about, really.

I mean, imagine it…..STW would have to find something else to argue about on a Sunday night!*

*Yes, I know. It just feels like a Sunday at the moment.

I wonder if Clarkson, Hammond and May will defect to ITV/SKY etc and make “2nd Top Gear”

I bet the bosses have thought about it!

Trying to force another series without the cast and writers which made it popular in the first place won’t exactly help.

Pistonheads rave about Chris Harris. I can see his passion for cars. Its just too muted, too reserved for me. Clarkson etc were loud shouty annoying ****. Characters. Harris is just a bloke you’d listen to on what he says about cars. Not entertainment or oomph on cars.
