What’s the hole at the back of the inside of my fridge for, and why does it and the channels in front of it fill up and spill water into the fridge?

It should be the other way around – check the drain at the back isn’t iced up…

Yup its a drain hole, any water (should) run through it into a tray at the back/underneath and then it evaporates. Check its not blocked or iced up

its a drain hole, the water that condenses on the inside of frost free fridges, runs down this channel into a small trough on top of the compressor motor, which get quite hot, the heat usually evaporates the water away, sometimes a frozen pea or bit of food gets down there, just blow down the hole with a straw, or some warm water, turn off the fridge first just incase the water over tops the resevoir .

It’s where all the bad smells drain out from so that Steak Pie that is a few days old still smells ok to eat.

The straw trick worked. Cheers Project. Will keep an eye on it though.
