When I lived in London our landlord was Johnny Vaughan (he used to pop round and talk about football amongst other things), Christina Lee (Christopher Lee’s daughter) lived above us, Mark Owen lived at the far end of the road (he’s very short – I nearly walked into him once on my way to work) and Keira Knightley bought the house opposite us. Johnny said he’d introduce us, but we moved away before he had the chance!

Met Jason Connery at a friend’s 21st. They were at school together. Nice bloke.

Met my grandfather, who taught John Lennon music and socialist politics and ran the youth club where Lennon and McCartney first played on the same stage.

Peter Ustinov and his wife in the late 70’s in a bar at Heathrow Airport. I did not know who he was at first when I was speaking to him but his face did look familiar 🙂

Both he and his wife were really friendly and he bought me a pint 😀

My wifes uncle was the entertainments editor at the mirror who published the article about the Corrie actor who plays ken Barlow being boring. This famously led to the paper being sued in a high profile law suit in the 80’s/90’s.

He was also a reporter at the Liverpool Echo in the 60s and knew the Beatles pretty well. His study wall is covered in photo’s of them together.

Sylvia Syms rented a flat from us for the Edinburgh festival, she was delightful.

David Bowie puked in the same flat.

    Wayne Sleep came to dinner.

I made an album cover fir Holly Johnson.

Sarah Ferguson came up to see my etchings.

I washed dishes for Duran Duran.

I eventually got sick fed up of flying on the the same Edinburgh to London shuttle with Jackie Stewart.

I’ve been Tasered and had tea made for me (on the same occasion!) by the 2nd man on the balcony in the Iranian Embassy siege assault. I also spent a day support driving for him kayaking down the Wye, he was supplied with lemon curd sandwiches on brown bread, and Guinness, at regular intervals.
He’s a lovely guy, got some pretty interesting stories too.

It amazes me that he’s famous now, but the comic writer Mark Millar is an old, old pal, and once did me the honour of giving me a comic character named after me for 8 issues of 2000AD in about 1991.

When I see him I still get amazed by the fanboi adulation he gets (as does he, to be fair.)

Just remembered, I had a ski lesson with Martin Bell on a dry ski slope. Oh, and my ex’s brother used to draw for 2000AD – not sure that he’s famous though!

Living a wild and exiting life such as mine, there have been many encounters with the Celeb.
Obviously it’s not cool to name drop ,but my personal fave …… 😀
There was an amazingly beautiful antipodean actress on my bed in a hotel in Leeds ,in the 90’s .

Me and my sister used to occasionally play with these two young boys that our babysitter’s friend looked after back when I was about 6 or 7. They were obviously rich or famous as they were followed everywhere by a minder (or their taxi as I was told). Didn’t think anything of it until a few years ago when my mum brought the subject up.

    The babysitter’s friend’s surname: Legge-Bourke.
The two boys: Wills and Harry 😯

I’ve a few, mainly during my time working in arts establishments in London.

I met Terry Gilliam on several occasions. I say “met”, what I actually mean is that I narrowly avoided having a Wayne’s World moment. He ended up in a meeting in the office next door, which overran and I ended up having to tell our Finance Director that the person holding the room past the allotted time was “a very naughty boy”.

I’ve had sexehteims with an X-Factor winner’s sister’s best friend.

Dermot O’Leary inadvertently prevented me from having sexehteims with a lady I’d been wooing for months when he came over to talk to me one evening at The Marquis of Granby, on North Hill in Colchester.

I played volleyball with one of the Houghton Weaver’s daughters. It was an unconfortable time as I’d just graduated and she was a good looking girl who made it plain she found me attractive, but she was 15 at the time so I was not about to get into trouble…

BTW Ton is right, Wally Lewis is a legend

I once woke up in my place (shared house) and found Howard Marks sleeping on the kitchen floor.
One of the guys in the house played for Suer Furry Animals and was a good mate of Howard.
Howard was a really nice guy and great fun to talk to.

Many minor celebrities can say they’ve met BadNewz down the years.
Ray Rearden told me off for dropping litter (by mistake).
James Ellroy has met me two times.
Rosamund Pike has chatted to me over drinks at Oxford.
Gazza has met me in Barclays bank.
Simon Armitage – really nice bloke – has discussed poetry with me, as has Tony Harrison, who rates himself rather highly.
Richard Dawkins has been rude to me.

David Moyes was a regular at my brothers take away in Preston and Kenny Dalglish is a regular at his restaurant…he’s been known to turn up on a Saturday night with his wife and then disappear upstairs to watch Match of the Day with the staff.
my friend is a musician and knows Dizzy Rascal, Swedish house Mafia and holds Ibiza parties in Judge Jules’ house on the island.
many years ago Alex Ferguson was attending a book launch at a shop in town…he took a wrong turn and ended up driving onto our street before doing a 6 point turn outside my house.
one of my uni friends claimed his mum used to date the singer Robert Palmer.

I knew Hunter (James) from Gladiators for a long time, was rather jealous when he was shacked up with Ulrika Johnson.

We were in our early 20’s at the time, and she was 30, famous, and Swedish 🙂
