Brutal article on Musk by The Bulwark (anti-Trump ex-Republicans).

    https://morningshots.thebulwark.com/p/elon-musk-savant-idiot

“I am Iron Man” became “I am Zoolander.”

    Very good!

Yesterday’s Blind Date one even better. I get the feeling he’ll be doing one with Elonmusky in every day for a while.

That one actually annoyed me enough to do a tweet. Might be my first one ever that wasn’t a competition entry

That was funny. They could have just posted the headline and photo and left the rest out though.

Musk’s whole “I work stupidly long hours so I expect all my employees to as well” thing bugs me more than it probably should to, give me a few £billion and I’ll work 100 hour weeks for a while, otherwise **** off

    Two things

Thing one: Is this really Musk?

Thing two: He knows that a Wehrmacht Soldier, right?  The “Champion of Free speech”, a German WW2 soldier?

Hey you should you ask him what he thinks those three unread messages might say?

And maybe give him some examples of Nazi orders ??

If he was stupid enough to try this, it would kill Twitter overnight.

He might be though I doubt it.  Remember his idea is to be profitable and not necessarily popular.  WhatsApp was initially meant to be paying to avoid advertising although it was something tiny like 1eur/year.   YouTube is becoming less and less usable for casual watching because of the ads and people are happy to pay.  Maybe there is a price if he can just get the level right.

It appears someone pointed out the old verification system was actually needed. Sounds like they now are having Official accounts which are just like the old verified accounts…

Good job that’s not clear as mud then.

I doubt it, I think Twitter only works if accounts are free. My guess is that 90% of users would bail if they tried to charge, then the blue checks who contribute useful content would also bail because their audiences would be gone, and it would turn into a wasteland in a week or so.

Selling Twitter to Tesla would be a simple way to pass the debt on to someone else.

I see this is going well

Ol Elon might actually do the world some good if he kills Twitter. The irony of that. 😂

Probably true, Space X has some DoD contracts doesn’t it.

So having 1/3rd of CEO who’s side gigs involve trying to flog Cars to the world (including China) and now owns a media platform that operates globally (including china) where regional content controls/censorship and ‘greasing the wheels’ are bound to be an issue, once you add Elon’s ego to the mix and the number of people he’s no doubt pissed off (not least with the latest round of twitter firings) it all does kind of leave him and his various business interests a bit open and vulnerable to exploitation or even espionage?

China owns the land underneath the Chinese Tesla factory.

The US DoD have contracts with a guy whose landlord is a National security concern… Of course he’s worth looking into but because of the way US politics works, the “most” patriotic don’t have a problem with that.

I’m fascinated to see if he can kill a healthy (in terms of volume of use) social network, purely by “moving fast and breaking things” (and being a dickhead).

Obviously it’s awful for the people losing their jobs at both Twitter and FB now, but its going to be interesting to see where they end up through Musk’s ignorant and impulsive decisions and Zuck backing the wrong horse (IMO) in the form of a “Metaverse” that nobody really wants.

The certified tick thing seems a huge error

for me the tick was a great way of telling if a source was reliable, or at least knowing what biases it may have

now anyone can bag one, confusion will reign

I dont see how it doesnt lead to stagnation- any new joiners cant be assumed to be legit, so only the same old legacy accounts will be seen as reliable- assuming that they take down clones/ copycats of the fast enough

Will be interesting if the news (bbc I’m looking at you,) stop activity using it, regurgitating people’s twitter feeds and just putting it on the bottom of the ticker feed is lazy.
The owner needs to be seen as impartial of all news and Elon is far from impartial.

I watched all three episodes of The Elon Musk Show on iPlayer lady night.

I know a lot of it could be down to editing etc but his journey to where he is now is an interesting one.

He seems to have got worse as time has gone along.

There’s news that an all staff meeting has had Musk state that there’s a chance that Twitter will go bankrupt.

I expect his reversal of the working from home policy and putting in at least 40 hours in the office isn’t going to help either. Anyone working for Twitter at the moment not job hunting will be in a world of pain.

Probably just an exception in this case, as it’s so thoroughly warranted.
