Ebike…. 2020 Bosch Kiox and Garmin dual ant+ HR strap

New bike time, setup the app and Bluetooth onto iPhone 7, all ok. I have a Garmin dual HR strap that is both ant+ and Bluetooth, which is BT connected to the phone. HR screen on the Kiox isn’t showing a reading though. Have only tried it inside, not moving.

What have I missed in the setup ? Or will the HR kick in when I start a ride ?

Is the Kiox ant+ capable? My old HR was only Bluetooth – it would only connect to one device. Likewise though my newer hrm is both ant+ and Bluetooth, it will only link to 2 devices if one is ant+ and one is Bluetooth – if both are Bluetooth it only connects to the first one to establish a connection

Hmm, don’t think so. The Kiox is Bluetooth only and linked to phone. The HR strap is also linked to phone. I guess I need to try and Bluetooth the Kiox to the HR strap somehow..

If you set your Instinct to broadcast HR will it pick that up?

This was my problem with my set-up. if you disconnect from your phone, the hrm will pair with Kiox, but then it will not reconnect to your phone until Kiox is switched off. What does connecting through the phone give you that you won’t get from the Kiox? I think if you really need both, you might need 2 hrm….

myopic, think you have it there, will try connecting the HR to the Kiox rather than the phone as I don’t think I need HRM and phone linked. My Instinct logs the ride and takes HR from the strap anyway I guess on Ant+, the Kiox will be handy to show the numbers without looking at my watch (I do need to keep an eye on it for medical reasons)

Bluetooth is usually 1 to 1. ie one HRM can pair to one device at a time. Whereas Ant+ is 1 to many. ie one Ant+ HRM can be received by multiple devices.
Though some devices support 2 Bluetooth connections at once. DC Rainmaker says the Garmin strap can. So it should work.

So in total you get:

#1: Bluetooth Smart sensor connection
#2: Another Bluetooth Smart sensor connection
#3: Unlimited ANT+ sensor connections

Very useful, thanks. Away from home for a few days so will try once back. Where I went wrong is pairing the Kiox to phone and not seeking the HRM on the Kiox Bluetooth options as I thought it would work via phone. I’m assuming the Kiox can be Bluetooth paied to phone and HRM at same time..
