Just caught the film clip for Basketcase on the telly, reminded me just how much I loved them in my youth 🙂

Greenday and The Offspring (Smash)- great memories 😈

    Do you have the time
    To listen to me whine
About everything and nothing all I want

Early Green Day were awesome, I think I need to dig out Dookie for some winter cheering.

Aah, they used to be punk. Pre-Dookie is good too, try “409 in your Coffeemaker” from 1039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hour

anyone who likes Green Day should listen to “The Dawn Of The Dickies” – yes they of the Banana Splits theme. And Paranoid, Nights In White Satin, Eve Of Destruction and many more 100mph cover versions…

It pre-dates GD by about 20 years, but sounds (in places) remarkably familiar…

I think Green Day and the Chilli Peppers are the 2 bands that have fallen the furthest.

    Damn good.

    Any love for Weezer too?

Love here for early Weezer and saw Green Day in 91 in Boston (by accident) – phenomenal concert. Saw them again in 98 at V98 and they were ace as well. Now, a bit lame.

You either have bad hearing or are having a bad typing day!

Greenday stuff, even newer stuff (american idiot was pretty good but can never match the earlier ones), is great. It formed my musical diet.

Saw Greenday in concert in Manchester, loved that too – one of the few bands who can actually play live.

    Do you have the time
    To listen to me whine
    About nothing and everything
    All at once
    I am one of those
    Melodramatic fools
    Neurotic to the bone
    No doubt about it

Sometimes I give myself the creeps
Sometimes my mind plays tricks on me
    It all keeps adding up
    I think I’m cracking up
    Am I just paranoid?
    Or I’m just stoned

    I went to a shrink
    To analyze my dreams
She says it’s lack of sex
    That’s bringing me down
    I went to a whore
He said my life’s a bore
    So quit my whining cause
    It’s bringing her down

Sometimes I give myself the creeps
Sometimes my mind plays tricks on me
    It all keeps adding up
    I think I’m cracking up
    Am I just paranoid?
    Uh, yuh, yuh, ya

    Grasping to control
    So I better hold on

Sometimes I give myself the creeps
Sometimes my mind plays tricks on me
    It all keeps adding up
    I think I’m cracking up
    Am I just paranoid?
    Or I’m just stoned

Now i know why i liked it as a teenager! 😯
