Anyone care to divulge some good natural routes around Dunkeld.

    Something around 4-5 hours?

    Cheers

There are a network of tracks around loch Ordie to the north of dunkeld. Nice if not very gnarly riding.

Head north to loch ordie then on to Lochan Oisinneach Do the circuit clockwise. The best descent is probably the singletracksouth of duchary hill.

Quite a few variations possible. I believe its in the Kenny Wilson book or try googling for detailed routes

If you are prepared to venture north a bit, the Ben A'Ghlo circuit from Blair Atholl as in the Kenny Wilson book is a great ride in good weather. Only one technical bit but a great day out with spectacular scenery. Took me about 6 hours

Thanks both, i will (sheepishly) go and get Mr Wilson's book out of the car and have a read.

Try the route that goes from Dunkeld to Bankfoot and back. Did it a few years back and it's worth doing again. It's in Kenny Wilsons book, at least a variation of.

Loads of options to the North and South of Dunkeld.
North to Loch Ordie and beyond, there's loads of routes near here.
Also around the Hermitage and south to Bankfoot via Glen Garr, return via Rohallion Lodge/Birnam Hill.

The Glen Garr route in KWilson's book is great, although maybe more for beginners – I went round it with my wife when she was still riding. There must be loads of quality stuff in the forest you go through on the way back – if someone could detail some more challenging stuff there and you linked it up with the Glen Garr circuit you'd have an exceptional ride.
