Cycling coffee table books.

Any recommendations? MrsKenny’s old man is wanting to know what I want for Christmas so I thought maybe a nice cycling book. Not a biography type thing as I have loads of them (by the way, does anyone know when Jens will bring his autobiography out?) but a large coffee table type book, the sort of thing you just dip in and out of occasionally. Has to have some lavish photography too.

For example last year I got Mountain High and Mountain Higher, both of which are superb.

Guy Kesteven’s 1001 bikes has lots of pictures in it

Fat Tire Flyer by Charlie Kelly is a helluva good read, lots of nice pics as well

“Cyclepedia: a century of iconic bicycle design” is pretty nice. Lazy link below. Some of the verbage is a bit naff, but the pix are lovely and there are some stupendously bizarre bikes in there.

Made in England – all about handbuilt frames. Proper big coffee table book.

I can heartily recommend Enigma Bikes 73degrees.

Two Days in Yorkshire is good. We ordered one and they sent us two so we’re wondering what to do with the second one.

This is on my coffee table, some lovely photographs, a really easy read that contains both road and mtb chapters.

I’ve just finished this, which is about the last placed riders at the Tour De France. Its a very well written book, and he talks to, and about, some interesting riders. There are some great insights into bits of the Tour De France, that are often missed, or covered up.

I’ve had this Cinelli book on my coffee table for a while now. Lots of nice pictures of very nice Italian things.

It’s a combination of reportage, reference and fabulous photography (the guy who I think also works for the likes of Privateer).

It’s very different from everything else and lovely to just dip into every now and then.
