well i can not back pedal with no pedals, and i also cant cover my backside with no seat.

In fairness, that was actually pretty funny.

if so you have lied through your teath (sic) as your (sic) shop had my phone number since i gave it [to] phil at 13.17 22rd june 2011.

Also in fairness, that second sic is unwarranted.

To be fair one final time, I would also have been annoyed if I had returned a new bike only to find an issue with the replacement. A lot of us are more than anal (bum chummery, you might say) enough about bikes to be sufficiently disappointed by a scratch on a new bike – however small – to want it replaced. I would not, however, have started slagging off the shop on multiple internet forums before I’d even spoken to them. Ask questions first, shoot second. You know, like the Americans do.

The OP should be particularly careful, as there is potentially a basis for libel here (not slander, as someone already pointed out). Not that it would be worth arguing as I suspect the claimants would struggle to recover costs, let alone damages.

It’s funny, how STW’s lowest lows are so often its most entertaining highs.

well, this has been really entertaining, so i’d like to post my own experience of cube bikes.
i recently bought an ams 130, which was perfect, and when my wife had a go on it she liked it so much i had to go back to my lbs and buy a cube acid as well!
    it was perfect too.
ps, big shout to paul at the bike shop scotland, in dunfermline, great service from a guy who knows his stuff.
spelling nazi mode on: it’s GRAMMAR, not GRAMMER ffs.
    spelling nazi mode off.

    Funny thread !

Please beware I’m not at all standing up for the op.

But I Do have mixed views to what is going on.

    This sticks out to me

    4ndy B

Shop attempts to contact customer’s brother (as it’s the only contact number we had at that time)
You say we and not ‘I’.
But then you admit in another post saying only Phil had the customer’s number.

Could Andy also explain to the thread why the seat post, seat, and pedals was not sent to the customer ?

Maybe seeing the scratch pissed him off , but then seeing that there was bits missing sent him over the edge.

Really feel for the kid, “whoops” sorry bloke.

He should of Waited until morning to phone the shop though.
But saying that did he know that he had the last one from cube stock ? If so this also could of sent him on his forum rampage,As to be fair it would mean him getting the refund, cancelling what ever agreement,And then starting all over again.
Thus him knowing the shop wouldn’t of done anything but refund him,And of course then knowing he had nothing to lose but to rant and rave.

Just an unlucky guy, Perhaps he chose the wrong bike and there is deeper force’s at work. (Those blooming light sabre’s scratching those bikes) lmao.

I also do feel for the shop and that Andy b did not need to defend the shop in here,As I do think in a way he should of spoke to his colleagues first and got all the necessary information.

The shop should just give the customer another phone call to resolve the issue and he may have calmed down.

Make love not war ! (not a bum chum joke)

You say we and not ‘I’.

    The royal we?

Stupidest guy ever. Why would he think that people would have all the sympathy in the world for him? Why didn’t he just ring the shop and sort it out?

But still, funniest thread I’ve ever seen! So thank you for that.

This was only 20 posts long when I first read it a couple of days ago. Freakin love it!

Please can people remember that “of” and “have” are not interchangeable as they don’t have the same meaning. Also, it’s a “slanging” match if we’re doing the pedantic thing, which we usually always are on STW. 🙂

well i have told all this on singletrack forum and i have clearly upset a few people on there already …bitching about my grammer rather than on the subject and im convinced its the owner of the shop who is a member on that forum.

First rule of internet forum usage: Never expect a decent or sensible reply from anyone on Singletrack….ever.

They should teach these rules in school to save future generations from a load of worthless grief and hassle.

Ibashedurx – signed up today, one post, dire grammar and spelling. Coincidence? I think not! The brother perhaps?

Good thread though. I like the notion that the OP couldn’t get finance, so got it in someone else’s name, which was fine!

ok for the people still reading this you Will know who i am, the shop has 4 workers boss, me, Andy b, Phill. On wed when 1st bike came back i was off Andy and boss was in (Phill is hardly on site as he is internet guy working off site most the time) they took it out the box to see paint problem never questioned it as replacement ready to be shipped. Thur i am in with boss still no Phill off site i looked at bike and agreed its to go back to cube, the box was full of waste packaging in the bottom. I sorted out the New bike for delivery to his brother as thats the name on the order thats the return name on box and thats the only name i needed to know as i did not know it was for someone else only Phill did it was internet order and he had both numbers, i try’d to ring said brother few times left message confermed by op i was ringing to A, ask if he kept the seat post ect, B is it ok to send bike for delivery tomorrow but it got to 4 and bike sent anyway next thing i see is a few post’s on here and other forum. Ok first bike was bad luck just missed by cube and as i have said we Dont remove all packaging when doing brake swap ect i have heard of other shops even test riding bikes before they send them but sure he would be more pi55ed if it looked 2nd hand, any how the bits was found next day in the waste packing not in its original bike bits box so was not easy to spot maybe should have looked harder and not to expect that it would return as it went oh well. The 2nd bike would not have left if the scratch had been seen but again too late but a call and some form of compo would have saved you all from reading the back and forth crap oh for the record first threat was from him trading standards i think but thats when boss butted in and said tell them its slander oh well not my department hope you get a bike soon Jon and i belive Phill has arranged collection of other one

WHY CAN YOU PEOPLE NOT WRITE PROPER!?!

    AlasdairMc

JC Cycles – just give up, please. Take a leaf out of other bike shops’ books and have a single point of contact with this forum and a single party line. My LBS has a login for here, it’s the owner who represents the shop and therefore is his decision whether to comment on any customer experiences. Other past or present employees may allude to working there but don’t get bogged down in issues that it should frankly be the boss resolving.

But I agree that the OP comes across like a petulant child undeserving of anything more than statutory service levels…

gjonmat: Have the previous 5 pages of people ripping the piss out of the OP for his crap grammar and spelling completely passed you by?! All things considered the shop has come out of this amazingly well so far and now in one post you’ve taken it back to the level of 2 schoolchildren arguing via text!

Edit: actually never mind the above, just +1 for what Bullheart says!

Is this the bikeshop in Ramsbottom? If so he’s a bloody good lad. Gave me a rear qr for free after a well known co-operative sold me the wrong one and I only checked at the start of the ride. He also lent my business development manager a Giro helmet (which she still has sat in the office)

No, the Rammy shop is DJ Cycles; Dan ex LL in Bury.

He’s a good egg, knows his onions, and other food compliments.

It oens’t smell like Grimsby around there. Well, occasionally in the Hair and Hounds

    Sigh. Back to bum chums.

I can’t be bothered watching the OP’s video of himself opening the box (which sounds almost as if he was expecting to find a scratch…) but would love to know how carefully it’s opened. It is a tiny little scratch, btw.

Really? You take bikes straight from the supplier and punt them out to customers straight away? 😯

If that is the case, and unless Cube work differently to most other major bike manufacturer out there – I’m not surprised you have problems with some bikes you send out…
