Idea of jury contamination due to reading STW is amusing. Chances of jurors being regulars on STW unlikely! Significant risk doubtful.

Good work guys! I met your group at the top of the monkey trail on sunday (at the lookout at the top of the last switchback climb)
Amazing restraint shown. Glad no bikes got pinched and you nabbed the scrote. Bet he was cacking it when 20 people gave chase 😀

For this offence, whilst it will initially go to the mags court, and more than likely remain there, the thief does have the choice to have his case dealt with in the crown court.

I’m amazed that while chasing him, he did not ‘fall’ off the bike and hurt his face really badly on the ‘tarmac’.

May be next time he tries it that might happen.

No helmet, glad you didn’t push him off the bike, he could have had a nasty head injury 👿

Superb news! Bravo to all of you for the restraint, and here’s hoping the little scrote gets some proper justice.

I have to congratulate you all on showing restraint, I’m not sure I’d have done the same especially if it were my bike and I’d got 19 mates with me all baying for the scrote’s blood.

Hopefully he’s going away somewhere away from people’s stuff.

dont hold your breath on any good news from the courts.

Please elaborate on the way the bike was taken. If the rider was pushed off it that would constitute an assault. If violence is used to commit theft it is therefore a robbery.

Much more serious than theft and will go to the big house.

True Scotchegg, and if violence was used to get the bike then some ‘gentle’ restraint would have been acceptable.

Good work fella, i presume at the BV cafe. I bet he was quite intimidated being surrounded by 20 storm troopers on Five’s 😉

That guy and his mate were sat on the benches looking at the carpark 3 weekends ago. They spent the best part of 2 hours walking up and down and on the phone to someone. Mail order bikes I think

hope he gets what he deserves in court (ironic laugh)
i doubt i would have been able to stop myself snapping his thumbs.
the police and courts have no interest in this kind of stuff

so, no-one had any cable ties to strap him to a tree and leave the fecker for the crows?

sadly, i feel this scrotes experience will not put put off other scrotes from trying the same.

Should have had this fella along, he likes a bit of XC..

    Nice one people.

I should ignore the “post his picture/don’t post his picture” bollocks. He is relying on the public not knowing who he is to go about his daily thieving. It’ll do him more damage to post his picture everywhere than our pathetic excuse for a justice system will ever do to inconvenience him in his thieving.

Some police maybe Jonah tonto. One of my CID colleagues has made two round trips to England, each several hundred miles, to get statements from people who were sold nicked bikes, in a (successful) effort to nail a guy who has stolen a number of high value bikes from round here. I would say that amounts to slight interest, at the very least.

the grate ape, that is music to my ears, i dont dislike the police but i live in swansea which is terrible for car/bike theft and the police here just dont care and as im sure your aware the courts are pretty shambolic when it comes to dealing with ‘petty’ thieves

last time my car got nicked for example they caught the guy driving it and he got **** all, meanwhile i had to pay £200 to get my car back from the recovery company.

ill deal with these pricks my own way thanks.

I don’t doubt that in many places f all is done. I’d guess that’s sometimes due to lack of interest, sometimes due to lack of resources, sometimes a combination – either way far from ideal. But some cops still enjoy nicking shites like these!

Courts however – I share your despair.

the police without the courts are a bit pointless really though aren’t they

Well, the police deal with a lot more than just crime, but I know what you mean.

I have no idea how you boys displayed any restraint

He could so easily have fallen off heavily on his face at 20 mph and with 20 witnesses, who would have argued….

Good work, just hope he gets hit with a sensible punishment that does actually act as a deterrent!

Does worry me, I tend to go biking over the Chase on my own. I normally lock my bike up to a fence whilst I nip into the loos before a ride, but I wonder how many people would notice/do anything if someone cut through the lock. Glad he was stupid enough to target somebody in a group!

Nice job on catching the little scum bag, probably good that you didnt get hold of him as alot of them sort carry needles etc

I worked in a health club once where we cought a simular type, who was walking into the club bold as brass and breaking into peoples lockers. We did choose to give him a fairly light going over while waiting for the law to show up.As rewarding as it was in the moment, when they arrived and told us that he was a know user and would have most likely being carrying, we did think that next time we wouldnt be so hasty (and not get so close, use sticks or something)
Sadly he didnt go down for it as he was better use “long term” in helpping catch a “bigger fish” etc etc

    Nice work.
TBH a bit of a kicking is part of his life style choice, he has got plenty more to come. Another off someone with a job might have give him an excuse to work the system for a payout. 20 big strong MTBers against this poor uneductated, son of a single parent, Ma-Lord.

I love the concept that his picture on here could lead to his trial being abandoned as everyone would know he was a thief. 🙄

What, the photo of the guilty guy with the guilty expression on his downturned guilty face, standing with the resigned posture of unassuageable guilt?

    Good work OP et al.

Public service award coming your way. Not exactly a model but he could be the face of a poster campaign.

Amazed no one saw fit to restrain him though.

Have heard rumours on another forum, that someone recognised him from Cannock, and apparently he is part of a gang that steal bikes to order.. Hopefully this will have foiled their plans and no more bikes will fall in to their hands again!

If you see him or a silver astra hanging around and driving up and down the driveway at Cannock.. report them to the forestry guys!
