Cannondale Trigger? Bargain

Is the BB covered by any type of warranty, or is it a consumable? Mine has just gone too!

Looking at one of these. I am 5′ 11.5″ not 6′. 31.5″ inside leg, always am an in between on bike sizes. What size medium or large. What you guys on?

You’ll be a large. I’m 5,8. 30 leg and using a medium with 19cm of seat post exposed.

I’m 5’10 with a long body and on a medium.. It’s only just big enough. I’d go large if I were you.

Yeah go for a Large, I’m pretty much the same size as you and normally fall between medium and large and usually end up sizing down but this time went for a large and it fits great

Looks like my medium will be too small for bigbloke so, bit of a cheeky/shameless plug but selling mine completely unused except for a quick ride up and down the path.

I just ordered a Trigger Carbon 2. Reviews seem to say that for 4k its a decent bike my reasoning is that at 2k it must be amazing value.

Damn all of you for this but the will is weak and I’ve always fancied a lefty.

Good on you! You’ll love it. I’m trying to get my step dad to buy that bike for himself. Mainly because I can’t afford one for myself and he would keep it at my house.

Tempted by a Trigger 2, but the L seem to have gone. I’m between 6’1″ and 6’2″, ‘normal’ proportions. Will an XL be OK?

At 6’2″ I’d say you’d be fine on it. They seem to size up pretty small imo

Deker. I’m around 6.1. Not 6.2 for sure. I have a Large and while I’m very happy with the sizing, I often think that I’d be just as happy on an XL. I think if you’re closer to 6.2 the XL will be a good fit.

TRIGGER 4 OWNERS.

I know there’s quite a few gone 1×10 on here.
I’ve done the same and got a Sunrace 11-40 cassette but jumping on biggest sprocket.
Anyone else had issues? Is the SLX med cage or long cage – I’m not sure…

I always assumed it was long cage since it was a triple in the front but I’ve never known. Have you adjust adjusted the b screw? I’m running the mx3 11/42 without any issue apart from it goes down a cog if I back pedal. Which I don’t.
Could you be down a subconscious back pedal and it’s jumping back up to the 40?

crazymac680 – the B screw is in as far as it will go.
It’s fine on every other sprocket except the 40T – no backpedalling involved.
I thought the mech would be fine as no one else had mentioned having to change their mech.

Did you set up the rear derailleur top adjustment screw after fitting the new cassette? Might need a half turn or so out.
And is your front chainring spaced out by 2mm ish?

Not tried the limit screw TBH – will try it.
It’s a RF NW so already spaced I believe – cheers

Does anyone know what the size of the lower pivot bearings are? It appears that the cornish winter has got to mine.

Well my Carbon 2 turned up today and I built it. I am not disappointed…Very, very red though..

Jools. Every time I see my Carbon 2 I smile. It’s badass. Get some Wild Grip R tyres too. The 2.35 front 2.25 back work well.

Indeed they do. Been brilliant in all the situations I’ve used them including snow, mud, dust, loam etc. Roll nice and fast and look good too.

Don’t crash and bend the DYAD shock remote. 60 **** quid!

Oooof, that’s not good. It’s quite vulnerable as it sticks up so much… In other news really like the offset bushings I’ve fitted. Well worth doing.

Ive got some trail kings on the way ( I really trust them) and took it out for shakedown ride earlier, all good. Weird running 35% sag though for someone used to using less. Really like the split personality of the bike so far, works well. Need to play with the fork settings though as the recommended pressure is too much.

It’s a lovely thing, bonus that the ride is pretty good!

Took mine for a blast round Dalby Red route last night. Absolutely spectacular bike, really really flew round. As above, love the split personality of the bike. Dusty trails too, it was heaven!!

Mine landed today. She’s a real beauty. Llandeglla or Lee quarry the weekend.

So, here’s a weird one. Decided to have a look at the bottom bracket yesterday due to the noise. There was a gap on the brake side of 1.8mm, and a gap on the chain side of 0.7mm. Unsure if the BB is working its way out or not? Unlikely as crank was on tight. Didn’t notice this before but may not have been fitted properly by Cannondale. Also took off the dust seals as everything sounded very gritty after the last few months of glorious weather. Cleaned everything out and put back internal o-ring and dust seal, greased everything up and pressed the BB back to the frame. No noise now whatsoever and definitely no play. Will see how it is after a proper ride.

Top jockey wheel on rear derailleur had about 2mm play and bolt was tight, so removed and took it apart, greased and reassembled. No play now (?!) and no gritty noise either. After taking it off it was now interfering with the 42t cassette gear even with the B screw all the way in ?!?! Now have a longer B screw in place and much better shifting. Did notice that shifting is cleaner with the clutch in the off position though.

Anyway, after a winters riding the Trigger has had some TLC and feels fantastic again. Suspension emptied and recompressed as DYAD was squeaking, brakes stripped and cleaned, everything tightened and lubed etc. :o)

I really dont think Cannondale get as much credit as they deserve for just how good the DYAD suspension is and that the internet is awash with naysayers and negativity towards the DYAD (proprietary components etc etc.)
But my Jekyll rear end is absolutely amazing and this is coming from someone who has owned a few Avalanche shock equipped DH bikes.

It’s funny you say that – I was just thinking yesterday of the similarities between the Dyad on my Jekyll & the Avalanche tuned rp23 on my Nicolai. They actually feel very similar with the noticeable difference being on very fast repeated square edged hits; on this the Jekyll is a little harsh whereas the nicolai is smoother. To be fair, one is a linkage actuated single pivot against a Horst link 4-bar, so I’m willing to accept that what I might be feeling is the difference in bike/suspension design than much difference in shock performance. Either way it’s the best standard fox shock I’ve used.

The trigger served me well.

Yup well first ride out on proper trails with my 11 year old so sticking to the easy trails on Holmbury and Pitch bike was set up with 32% sag as per manual and was running really sweetly was really enoying the ride.

Hit a small log drop on supernova (and anyone who knows the trail knows it is small) and the Trigger has failed catastropically. Snapped the rear triangle in 4 paces and almost completely gone through the seatstays.

I’ve been riding that same trail for years on my Blur without any issues at all and this thing snaps first time out.

So I’m 2k out and expecting the inevitable – “It was your fault” from both Pauls and Cannondale.

I’m proper cheesed off and feeling a bit sick TBH.

Noooo, that’s not good. Fingers crossed they sort you out. No way that should fail like that under normal usage.

Nightmare! Hope you get it sorted under warranty without any problem.
