Camera doorbells without contrat

After reading all the comments here, I think your primary issue is that you bought a cheap shit doorbell. If you’re getting phantom rings and there’s no-one about, I’d have thought it unlikely to be crosstalk from a neighbour’s bell otherwise there would be someone at their door instead. If you don’t need all the (ahem) bells and whistles then perhaps what you want is what you already have, only from a more recognised brand.
Alternatively,

i have nothing at present, just a doorbell shaped space on the front doorframe 😀
just relying on knocks at the door at present, so wouldnt even mind a wireless ‘non-video’ doorbell really as long as it doesnt do the phantom ringing thing. but following this with interest to see if theres anything extra worth splashing out on, you know, video doorbell or even cctv with doorbell included.
cheers
Cougar2Free MemberI think I’ve got mixed up between posters somewhere along the way…!
sadexpunkFull Memberhaha no worries. that video above is interesting tho, its made me look at reolink doorbells. looking back at a few posts on page 1……
Reolink. POE or Wifi. Local storage (card in the doorbell) or storage on your DVR. Integrates perfectly with my Reolink CCTV system too. Good app, notifications, some useful functions (like timelapse!) etc. Works brill – always very happy with all our Reolink equipment.
and
REOLINK
you can get this one, either as PoE, or battery or just plugin job with wifi
Works well and as i already have the REOLINK cameras on the house, it’s all on the same app.

I have recently purchased a Reolink doorbell (£43), outdoor moveable camera (£53) and Home Hub (£72). Yet to install the doorbell but looks good. Main point of the hub is to store footage inside, don’t see the point in having a memory card in your camera as they are dead easy to steal.
im more confused than ever 😀
quite like the idea of them but theres so many options and variations i just know id buy the wrong kit 😀
Cougar2Free MemberPoE is Power over Ethernet. Ie, it’s powered from a network cable, so you don’t need a separate power supply. BUT you would need a device at the other end of the cable capable of supplying that power, most consumer-grade routers don’t, and presumably you’d need to punch an Ethernet cable sized hole in the door. You probably want the Wi-Fi version.
I wasn’t specifically recommending the device so much as suggesting looking at that channel. That video is simply his newest one about doorbells, it’s about two weeks old, it might be worth searching back through the channel for other reviews. I like his reviews, he’s the sort of guy you could initially think would be irritating but he’s actually really likeable and entertaining.
GeForceJunkyFull MemberI’m not jelling with the reolink doorbell, you can’t have it recording to the home hub whilst still working with Alexa, it’s one or the other. The outdoor camera also only records for 15s when motion is detected, even if there is still motion. Loads of Reddit people having the same issue for over a year with no solution other than continuous recording.
madhouseFull MemberEufy owner here. I also didn’t fancy paying a monthly fee for a doorbell!
Got the homebase thingie with it which does storage and chime, but the one of the most useful things is that it works with Alexa and all those units announce someone’s at the door too, which is very handy when Mrs M is working in the shed and the rest of us are out.
Other than that it’s got 2 cameras so you can keep an eye on the pot plants by the door or whatever bike bits the postie’s left on the doorstep. Only annoyance is the charging port is micro-USB but they will probably have changed that by now, other than that it’s just done it’s job like it’s supposed to.
sadexpunkFull Memberwell im getting closer to ordering a blink set up. i can work out that id need a video doorbell, and say 2 outdoor cameras (with sync module 2 for recording to usb). what i cant find is what would actually make a noise if the doorbells pressed. can anyone help me out on this please? i see them for sale at argos, screwfix and amazon, but i see no ‘chimes’.
thanks
johnnystormFull MemberI have my blink doorbell ring through our Echoes and through the phone app. Get an echo with the screen and you can see them too. On a prime day or black Friday deal I got the echoes for something daft like a fiver each.

wowzers, can only see them for £45. ill keep a look out see if i can find them a lot cheaper over the next week or so. certainly not worth £45 to me to see who’s at the door. all i wants a bluddy chime!! 😀
