Trying to work out an offroad commute and can go through Burnham Beechs from the NW corner through to the SE corner (and return on way home).

I’ve not ventured in there yet, but the OS map shows several fireroads and other unclassified paths.

Does anyone know of any trails that I should include? Or should I just wing it and have a play at exploring?

Can’t help with specific trails but a lot of the roads that pass through the centre of Burnham Beeches are closed to cars so can be pretty handy for a commute.

There are a lot of little paths and bits of trail that could be strung together that will probably get you from A-B but I doubt that any will be as quick as taking the (mostly) closed roads straight through. Maybe go for the roads in the morning and have a bit of an explore on the way home.

    Cool, thanks. I’ll have a play. 🙂

    Brings back memories!

The bomb holes in Burnham Beeches used to be my local hangout for pissing about on bikes when I was a yoof.

The two abiding memories are bending the forks on my fully rigid Claude Butler and getting chased out of the woods by the over officious park rangers on regular occasions. Apparently riding bikes in the woods was causing erosion and scaring the walkers!

Hope things have changed now and you are allowed to ride there.
